Job Description


The African Union, established as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity,cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as developing a new partnership worldwide. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia.


 


In seeking to achieve these objectives, the African Union intends to strengthen its capacity to deliver by,among others, the implementation of new organization structure and the filling of regular and short-term vacant posts.


The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the short-term post of Webmaster.

 2.    General Purpose Of The Position


The main responsibility of the Digital Marketing Manager (Webmaster) will be the development, installation, maintenance, and operation of the organization’s internet and intranet websites and various other applications that can be operated in any environment including iOS and Android..  The Web master will collaborate with IT teams to create compelling, efficient and easily accessible web pages for the intranet and recruitment website.


3.   Major Duties and Responsibilities


 ·        Design, develop, and maintain an innovative,engaging, and informative website for a worldwide audience.


·        Fulfill several project requests simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.


·        Develop tools and procedures that enhance website visibility, quality, and speed.


·        Ensure application infrastructure availability to meet SLAs for the respective instances.


·        Interface with internal users to develop effective web-based solutions to meet and/or exceed user requirements.Implementing change management controls.


·        Collaborate with MIS team, and other departments to solve common problems and to create landing pages and optimize user experience for the internal website and AU recruitment Website.


·        Technical lead and primary contact for all web-based projects pertaining to the intranet of the AUC.


·        Gather requirements, design, code and test independently.


·        Educate internal stakeholders about Intranet best practices and internal intranet processes.


·        Plan and execute all web, SEO/SEM, Knowledge management database, email, social media and display advertising campaigns for the recruitment website and intranet


·        Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)


·        Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights


·        Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies


·        Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests


·        Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points


·        Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners


·        Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate


3.   Educational Qualifications and Work Experience


Candidates must hold Masters Degree in Marketing, webdesign, Information systems or related field with 7 years of working experience in digital marketing, designing, developing,leading and managing content management systems, Knowledge management databases,social media and/or display advertising campaigns skills.


Candidates with a bachelor degree in Marketing, webdesign, Information systems or related fields can be considered provided that they have 10 years of working experience in digital marketing, designing, developing , leading and managing content management and knowledge management systems with SEO/SEM, marketing database, email,social media and/or display advertising campaigns skills.


4.   Other Relevant Skills and Competencies


–       Musthave strong analytical skills to make qualified recommendations on continuousimprovement to web strategy.


–       Musthave excellent sense of graphic design


–       Musthave an excellent writing and content design skills


–      High sense of integrity, trust and confidence


–      Demonstrated sense of impartiality and objectivity


–       Excellentanalytical, advocacy, written and oral communication and diplomatic skills


–       Demonstratedability to interact at high level;


–       Abilityto work in a complex institutional environment.


–       Abilityto work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds


–       Abilityto manage, supervise and provide leadership – strong interpersonal skills


–      Solid knowledge of website analyticstools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends, etc.)


–      Working knowledge of ad serving tools(e.g., DART, Atlas)


–      Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, andJavaScript development and constraints including encryption


–      Strong analytical skills anddata-driven thinking


–      Up-to-date with the latest trends andbest practices in online marketing and measurement


5.   LanguageRequirement


Proficiency in one of the AU workinglanguages (English, French, Arabic and Portuguese) is a must. Knowledge ofsecond or all of the other working languages would be an added advantage


  1. Tenure of Appointment

The appointment will be made on a fixed term contractfor a period of One Year (1), of which the first three (3) month will beconsidered as a probationary period.

  1. Remuneration

The salary attached to the position is a fixed monthly lump sum of US$6,922.50 (P3 Step5) inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$ 5,955.53 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited staff.
