UNICEF Ethiopia Office is seeking Request for Proposal to –to produce the book Talking Book on Immunization in 4 sets of languages (Somali/English; Amharic/ Oromiffa; Agnuack/Nuer; English/Amharic)

Background:Immunization is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions for reducing childhood illness and death and is an important indicator to monitor progress of the under-five mortality rate. Immunization against vaccine preventable diseases is one of the top priorities for Ethiopia Health Sector Development Programme (HSDP IV) and a flagship programme of the Ministry of Health. While remarkable gains have been made in the Expanded Program of Immunization programme (EPI) since its launch in 1980, a large share, over one million children, of Ethiopia’s annual birth cohort (3 million children) remain unprotected against the ten vaccine-preventable diseases currently targeted. The national EPI coverage survey completed in 2012 revealed penta-3 coverage is just 66%, with significant regional and zonal variation. Furthermore the survey stated that only 50% of children between 12 and 23 months were fully immunized. Marked differences in the levels of immunization coverage reported between urban and rural areas persist, as do dramatic regional disparities (pastoral areas of Somali, Afar, and Gambella are persistently low as compared to Addis Ababa or Tigray).

Objective:to produce the Speaking Book, utilizing the provided text, images and sound files by FMOH and UNICEF and will ensure delivery of the books to the port of entry in Ethiopia.

Expected background and Experience:

-Experienced in immunization and health programme health education, tailored for local communities; Developing of innovative health education material development, with available evidence of implementation/impact and Working with UN or international organizations, national governments and development agencies or NGOs.
