2. Major Duties and Responsibilities
– Providing strategicadvice and guidance on issues of financial management;
– Ensuring compliance with Financial Rules and Regulationsof the African Union and financialpolicies;
– Managing amulti-functional team of finance professionals;
– Maintaining andcontinually improving systems, processes, and procedures of financial management,internal controls and administrative services of AUC;
– Properly reportingand safeguarding AUC’s financial resources and ensuring effectiveness andefficiency in all financial matters;
– Authorizing all Payments of AUC;
– AdministratingSystems of all Online Banking of AUC;
– Providingleadership and overall supervision of the Division;
– Taking a lead rolein the preparation and timely submission of financial reports and other interimreports on the financial situation ofthe Union
– Ensuring timely processingof AUC payroll;
– Ensuring timelypreparation of statement of Bank reconciliation and addressing all reconcilingitems on time;
– Monitoring allaccounts to ensure their veracity and completeness and submit status update tothe director-PBFA;
– Handling Auditorsboth Internal and External;
– Reviewing andauthorizing all bank transfers(International and Local) and ensuringsufficient cover of foreign exchange is in place at all times;
– Responsible forTreasury Management-Forecasting,Corporate dealings and Financial risk management;
– Preparing cash flowprojections on a regular basis
– Investigatingsignificant variation between actual and projected cash positions
– investigating anyerrors with the bank accounts or cash book ledgers;
– Preparation , Upload and communication of monthly SAP exchangerate report;
– He/she is Signatoryof all Global banks of and BankRelationship manager for African Union;
– Performing anyother work as may be assigned by the Director of PBFA.

– Computer literate in accounting and financial management software
– The candidate should have practical knowledge of IPSAS
– Financial reporting skills

C. Knowledgeand Understanding
– Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
– A minimum of 10 years relevant experience
– Candidates with firstUniversity Bachelor degree in Accounting, Financeor Business Administration can be considered provided they have 15 years ofexperience out of which 5 at a managerial level.
– Must be familiar with contemporary treasury management issues for publicsector international organizations
Candidate must beProficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Proficiency of twoor more of the other working language(s) would be an added value.
- Tenure of Appointment
The appointment will be made on a fixed term contractfor an initial period of Three year, of which the first twelve (12) months willbe considered as a probationary period and a possibility of renewal every Twoyears depending on performance evaluation.

- Remuneration
Indicativebasic salary of US$ 47,829.00 (P5 Step 1)per annum plus other relatedentitlements-e.g. Post adjustment (46% of basic salary), Housing allowance($16,819.20 per annum), education allowance (75% of tuition and othereducation related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00per child per annum), etc. for internationally recruited staff of theCommission.
