ABOUT US


GOAL has been working in Ethiopia since 1984 implementing a range of development, resiliency and humanitarian responses – working with street children, pastoralists and rural small holders. Currently GOAL Ethiopia’s major funders are USAID/OFDA, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid/MAPS, Irish Aid/EHAF, UNOCHA.GOAL currently work in over 25 woredas across four Regions of Ethiopia and we deliver a range of programs including child protection, development, nutrition, emergency relief and rehabilitation. In 2005 GOAL, in partnership with USAID/OFDA, established the Humanitarian Response Programme (HRP) to respond to emergency nutrition situations in Ethiopia. This programme has grown substantially over the years, and is now multi-donor and multi-sectorial, with interventions throughout Ethiopia.


ABOUT THE ROLE


GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a competent, motivated, experienced humanitarian worker to join the Humanitarian Response Program. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team. You will be joining the organization at an exciting time of growth and change and you’ll be instrumental in providing support in the delivery of the Humanitarian Response Program to the organization and its employees. 


ABOUT YOU


You’ll be an experienced manager with humanitarian work experience. You’ll provide both managerial and technical support to both nutrition and survey-assessment teams. You will supervise all aspects of emergency-transition and development nutrition programs implemented by GOAL and oversee partner organizations (POs) implementing emergency-transition nutrition activities in Ethiopia. You must be eligible to work in Ethiopia.


 


REQUIREMENTS:


B.Sc. /M.Sc. or equivalent in Nutrition or related degree.5+ years of overseas experience in humanitarian assistance programs.Extensive experience in design, planning, management and coordination of nutrition programs.Experience and skills in training staff.Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills to plan projects, timetable agreed activities and oversee staff activities.Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel and PowerPoint, SMART, Epi-Info and/or other relevant statistics packages.Experience with mentoring and building the capacity of local staff.Strong management skills and proven experience in managing teams.Strong organizational skills and some experience with project planning, timetabling and monitoring budgets would be an asset.Excellent communication skills, preferably with some experience or exposure to developing and writing proposals.Good human resource management skills and logistic skills.Awareness of community-based approaches to improving nutrition and food security.Proven experience in liaising with government officials, other NGOs, donors and UN agencies.Understanding of development and relief issues.Appreciation of the aims and objectives of GOAL.Outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.Good team player, flexible and capable of working with a multinational country team.Ability and willingness to travel to rural locations and live in sometimes basic conditions.Appreciation of and sensitivity to local culture.Excellent written and spoken English.Ability to function and manage in situations of uncertain security.Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibilities.Sensitive to cross cutting issues like gender, accountability, child protection and HIV/AIDS.

Remuneration & Benefits:


Salary range


Birr 20,531.00 – 23,991.00


Transportation Allowance – 10% of monthly salary and 300 taxi fare


Medical Allowance – Birr 6500/annum (will be added in your monthly salary)
