Early Childhood Development (ECD) Program Officer Job at Aynage Child and Family Development Organization - 2015

Aynage Child and Family Development Organization (ACFDO) is a community based, not for profit, non-religious and discrimination free indigenous humanitarian organization that exists to help the deprived, excluded and vulnerable children become productive, confident and responsible citizens, parents and leaders of the future. Established in 1999 GC and located at Kibet, capital of Silti woreda of Silte zone in SNNPR, ACFDO has been implementing various community based development programs and projects. Currently it is implementing Early Childhood Care and Development, Basic Education and Youth Development programs, WASH and Women Economic Strengthening and Natural Resources Management Projects in partnership with ChildFund Ethiopia.

With the above background, ACFDO would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the following vacant position. 

Position Summary

The ECD Program Officer is responsible for planning, implementing , monitoring and evaluation of ECD program of the organization. He/she is responsible for coordinating ECD activities related to health, nutrition, livelihood ,  protection, WASH and education /early stimulation with relevant staff within the organization and other stakeholders working in these fields outside of the organization . He /she is responsible for facilitating and or organizing relevant training and capacity building activities  for the ECD program related to the main areas and strategies of ECD program of the organization , conduct regular monitoring and follow up on  ECD program indicators, produce monthly ,quarterly annual reports of acceptable quality standard, mobilize, coordinate and engage all various stakeholders related to ECD  program. Take responsibility in the follow up and strengthening of functional home and center based ECD Programs; Promote positive child rearing practices in the community, early stimulation of children and ensure child protection services at family and day care centers; Ensure care givers and ECD staffs are equipped with participatory tools so as to develop active learning environment and foster child participation skills. S/He will supervise and follow up projects/program activities and ensure quality and timely implementation. 

Terms of employment: One year with the possibility of extension based on work performance and availability of fund.

Salary: Based on the revised salary scale and benefit packages

BA degree in Education , Child Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, or other related field of studies and minimum of 5 years work experience of which 2 years NGO experience in education , ECD, community development work with recognized exposure to primary health care, nutrition and child development projects.

Skills: 

Very good in written and oral communication; skills in facilitation of training, design and development of project proposal, report writing, partnership building, monitoring and evaluation of ECD projects and programs, community mobilization,  proven team building and management, analytical, networking, inter-personal communication and negotiation skills; good application of Word, Power Point and Outlook’ Ability to produce and implement clear reports in English are critical.
