Business and Entrepreneurship Technical Advisor Job at International Rescue Committee - IRC - 2015


PURPOSE


The Business and Entrepreneurship Technical Advisor/Senior officer (BETA) for the Engaged, Educated and Empowered Ethiopian Youth (E4Y) project will work under the direct supervision of E4Y Youth Employment and Livelihoods Specialist (YELS) within the IRC. The BETA will work with World Vision Ethiopia Regional E4Y Project Coordinator to ensure the proper implementation of Livelihoods interventions and related economic development activities. The BETA will also coordinate with the Livelihoods and Education Facilitators of the E4Y project towards realizing project objectives.


The BETA will particularly focus   in developing, managing and monitoring of E4Y activities related to youth employment and livelihoods including market assessment, entrepreneurship and life skills training, apprenticeship, mentoring and micro franchising within agreed intervention modalities and in line with specified roles and responsibilities.


 Scope


The BETA will assist the Youth Employment and Livelihoods Specialist to:


Support, follow up and report progress on target geographical areas of  E4Y –Youth Employment & Livelihoods interventions in SNNPR – in Hossana town and 6 woredas in kembata and Hadiya Zone. Build the capacity of  partner staff and target groups Establish  and manage  referral linkages with business and other public/private sectors

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSBLITIES


 Work closely with  YELS  to ensure that the E4Y – Youth employment and livelihoods activities are in line with the strategies, address identified market and employment opportunities for youth   Ensure that the Youth employment & livelihoods activities under their portfolio meet DOL requirements.  Actively participate in the planning , roll out of entrepreneurship and life skills trainings, apprenticeship support,  mentoring session for targeted youth within agreed  procedures  Maintain  records and ensure that reporting system is in place  to support the workCarry out regular monitoring visits to E4Y entrepreneurship and life skills training and  micro-franchising initiatives to check progress and identify capacity building needs Participate in contextualization of assessment tools, training materials and other resources to reflect youth needs and the local setting.Proactively participate in documentation of experiences, best practices, innovative ideas, lessons learnt and share with YELS and other colleagues within IRCBuild and maintain smooth relationships with local community, government offices and private sector. Network with organizations working on Youth business development and livelihoods to share  experience and learning across the projectEnsure that E4Y Youth employment and livelihood interventions progressively take  decent work/ employment opportunities, disabilities, gender and UN CRC principles in the design, implementation and monitoring of  interventions  Perform other responsibilities as necessary
