Internal Auditor Job at NRC (Norwegian Refugee Council) - 2015

Purpose: To ensure that proper financial and system controls are in place, resources are managed effectively through efficient management practices in NRC Ethiopia, and build the capacity of NRC staff and partners on compliance with funding requirements, financial reporting, resource audit through monitoring and learning from mistakes. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish risk based internal audit plans/programs by conducting risk assessment of all departments and/ or functional area within the required timeline.

Documents, evaluates and tests systems and controls to determine their adequacy and effectiveness to ensure

compliance with policies and procedures,

accomplishment of management’s objectives,

 reliability and integrity of information,

economic use of resources and NRC receives value for the  money used, and

Safeguarding of assets.

Work with management to ensure a system is in place which ensures that all major financial risks of the NRC Ethiopia are identified, analyzed and documented in a timely manner

Assures the management that all risks are identified and mitigated against.

Make follow up on recommendations made by the external auditors and NRC regional and HQ compliance staff as well as audit functions to ensure that are implemented expediently   

Report on the value for money that NRC obtains in all its activities with special regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness

Conduct any reviews or tasks requested by CD, and CMT provided that  such reviews and tasks do not compromise the independence or objectivity of the internal audit function

Provide both management and the CD with an opinion on the internal controls in the organization

Assure that the Programme provides accurate and timely inputs into the Programme and project audits – compromise the independence of the auditor –

Assure the management of strong internal control in management of data base and filling system for all funding agreements, modifications and financial reports.

Conduct annual resources management workshops for staff and partners

Perform procedures to identify/track the incidence of fraud and error; that is to carry out necessary checking to ensure transactions are genuine and fair and to prevent abuse and misuse of NRC resources. Review donor agreements and highlight the most risk areas (donor requirements) and track its compliance by both NRC programme, and support sections in Ethiopia.
