GOAL is an Irish based international NGO with Programmes in Humanitarian Response, Rural Development and the street children. The Humanitarian Response Programme focus on nutrition intervention activities, working with the ministry of Health to monitor the nutrition, health and food security status with its current intervention areas in Oromiya, SNNPR and Amhara Region. The Rural Development Programme focus on health, education, nutrition, water and sanitation with cross cutting issues in gender, environment protection and HIV/AIDS, in Sidama, Borena and West Hararghe Programme Offices. Incorporated into the Rural and Urban Development Programme, the ChildSPACE Programme works with ‘of the street’ children and youth working and living on the street by focusing on the strengths of children and young people; and through partnership building, collaboration and networking with various stake holders, the programme supports diverse community structures and initiatives through approaches that are Strength, Street and Partnership and Networking focused. The ChildSPACE programme is delivered by GOAL and directly by local partners in Addis Ababa and Hawassa. Cross-cutting issues include gender, the environment, child protection and HIV/AIDS. GOAL Ethiopia utilizes a strengths based approach to all development activities.

GOAL is looking to recruit Senior Community Outreach Facilitator for its Humaniterian Response Programme in Afar with a dynamic, technically competent and motivated personality to lead, inspire and manage the overall operation of the community outreach activities in the refugee camp. The Senior Community Outreach Facilitator will be responsible for the overall management of GOAL’s outreach programme in the management of Community-based Acute Malnutrition in field site (Refugee Camp) through community mobilization, sensitization and education.

Requirements (educational, experience, language etc.)

·         Diploma preferably in Nursing or Social Sciences and related fields with a minimum of one to two years related experience in community mobilization and sensitization especially in nutrition and health;

·         Experience on adult learning skills and counselling of mothers for essential nutrition action.

·         Experience in planning and organizing community outreach activities;

·         Experience in delivering training to community volunteers or outreach workers on screening for malnutrition using MUAC and oedema;

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English; knowledge of Local  language, Afar speaker is a must

·         Experience in supervision of outreach activities and nutritional surveys;

·         Experience of providing hands on in service training for community members and volunteers and providing related reports;

·         Computer literate; good English communication skills, both spoken and written;

·         Gender sensitive.

Remuneration and Benefits:

GOAL pays a monthly salary of Birr 10,197.00 (Ten thousand one hundred ninety seven birr) and provides benefits like:

Pension – as per the government pension scheme (11% from the employer and 7% from the employee).Transportation Allowance, 10% of monthly salary.Hardship Allowance, 40-50% of monthly salary Medical Allowance, birr 6,500.00/annum
