  SNV Ethiopia – EDGET project is looking for a:  Finance and Grant Officer

  based in Addis Ababa on a local employment contract

The position is mainly responsible for EDGET project sub-grant system design, planning and implementation. The position holder will review proposals, prepare sub-grantees project agreement, monitoring their budget, ensure donor compliance and produce quarterly sub-award activity status reports to EDGET-SMT. S/he will be under the supervision of EDGET project Finance and Operation Manage (FOM) and will also provide as finance and logistics support for the project

I. Finance Management

Handle field cash disbursement on workshop and training for Oromia region

Ensure timely and accurate Advance settlements for the project

Update Cash register book and ensure sufficient cash reserves are maintained in the bank

Ensure transactions are properly recorded and timely posted into SAP system

Maintain proper records of vouchers (Payment, Receiving & Journal)

Ensure proper project files are maintained at all times 

Reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable accounts with records

Collect bank statements, bank slip and bank advice

Maintains Fixed Asset Register and Purchase Order taking system

Assist Program Related Procurements and processing vendor invoice

Assist in project annual audit and  closing of accounts at the end of the fiscal year

Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor

II. Grant Management

Support day to day operation of project Grant management in line with SNV Grants procedures and guidance of Project FOM. 

Identify and select appropriate funding mechanism for the particular activity in collaboration with the technical team;

Conduct technical and financial due diligence on each matching grant proposal made by applicants;

Appraise, prepare draft agreements including millstones, facilitate disbursement, and supervision of all grants as provided in the Project Grants Manual;

Participate in the fund planning and budgeting development/review to ensure harmonised planning and reporting information

Ensure the procurement procedures specified in the Manual have been adhered to;

Regularly update the grantees activity status using the databased established

Ensure regular and timely financial and physical progress reporting to meet deadlines determined in the agreement;

Facilitate the process for the auditing of the Fund

Build capacity of the grantees through trainings, coaching and technical assistance.

Monitor proper use of the fund  together with the project FOM  and technical team

III. Required Skills and Experience:  A University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business management, and other related fieldsAt least 4 years  practical experience  in Finance/Grants working with INGO Practical experience in projects grants management (USAID, DFID, EU &/or EKN ) fundsStrong interpersonal communication, facilitation and presentation skills.

·      Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  

Salary: SNV Ethiopia Competitive Scale;
