Business Advisor - Primary Cooperative Capacity Building, Malt Barley (pending budget approval) Job at Technoserve - 2015

Working directly and closely with cooperative union and primary cooperative leadership and staffs, strengthen primary cooperatives and cooperative union’s capacity around governance, operations, planning and financial management, including business plans, operational planning, quality management and staff training.

·         Facilitate post-harvest handling capacity building, Facilitate output financing;

·         Submit weekly field reports to the Senior Business Advisor and support impact monitoring and evaluation activities;

·         Participate in regular team training activities to build own training skills;

·         Deliver regular trainings to cooperative unions;

·         Develop and closely manage relationships with local government agencies,

·         Actively cooperate and support  partner organizations and other key stakeholders on issues that promote the mission of this project;

·         Support cooperative unions to develop business plans

·         Conduct audits of other cooperative unions;

·         Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

·         ·         Bachelor’s degree preferred in a relevant field – business, agriculture, the sciences, economics, etc. May accept experience in lieu of four year degree.

·         At least two to four years’ professional experience – ideally private sector – in one or more of the following areas:  (grain) agronomy, business or cooperative management, SME development, agriculture, training or extension, finance, or engineering.

·         Strong planning skills and experience working to strict time-guidelines

·         Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.

·         Willingness to spend significant time in rural areas.

·         In addition to local language, excellent English oral & written presentation skills.

·         Computer literacy required, including ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

·         Business Acumen.

Preferred Skills:

·         Knowledge of second local language is an advantage.

·         Legal license to drive a motorbike is advantageous. (Please attach copy of valid motorbike license.)
