TFP (OTP/SC) Senior Project Officer (Nurse)

Job Description


Concern Worldwide is an Irish-based non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern Worldwide-Ethiopia would like to invite dynamic and creative applicants for the following positions.


Position: TFP (OTP/SC) Senior Project Officer (Nurse)


Duty station Tigray Programme Area: Sasie T/Emba and Mereb Leke Woredas Emergency Nutrition Response Project


Employment Duration: 10 months


No. Required: 2 (two)


Reports to: Emergency Project Manager


Job purpose:


To implement the emergency nutrition programme as per in-country protocols and international standards


Main duties & responsibilities (including training role):
Ensure, that the OTP/SC components of the emergency nutrition project is of good quality and is reaching international standards for performance with support from the project manager
Co-ordinate, manage and support outreach workers to implement OTP/SC services according to national guideline, international standards and Concern policies
Support staff development through coaching and mentoring to enhance the capacity of project and MoH staff
In collaboration with MoH staff, facilitate SAM management training to health centre I health post staff
Ensure the continual availability of food, medicine, and other supplies required for the project in the identified Woreda and ensure its proper management, including ordering, storage, and monitoring
Ensure weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the project manager using appropriate format
Ensure and support the Woreda Health Office staff in reporting recording and supply management of OTP and SC programmes
Ensure the OTP and SC programme is run through the existing MOH structure;
Assist linkage and referrals between the TSFP and OTP/SC components of the project
Facilitate and participate regularly at Woreda level health and nutrition taskforce meetings to be chaired by the Woreda health office and/or DPPA
Ensure good collaboration and participation of WMoH and other relevant local agencies
Conduct frequent joint supervision visits to SFP, OTP, and SC sites
Participate in nutrition and coverage surveys and other assessments as needed
Liaise with health centre and health post staff on the planning, implementation and monitoring of OTP and SC in their locations
Facilitate proper management of OTP/SC stocks by MOH counterparts; monitor rates of consumption and ensure supplies are ordered in timely manner
Prepare monthly progress reports and any other required documentation for submission to the Project Manager
Report any important issue in a timely manner to the Project Manager
Perform any other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Project Manager
Qualification and Experience
Essential;
Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in public health or nursing; with minimum of 5 years or 8 years relevant experience respectively
Minimum of two years’ experience in NGO environment
Computer Literate
Excellent coordination and facilitation skill
Demonstrated experience in facilitating trainings for program and health staff
Excellent report writing skill
Fluency in written and spoken English;
Excellent staff management capacity and experience
Salary: As per the organization scale
