The Population Council is an international, nonprofit, and nongovernmental organization established in 1952 to address population and development issues in developing countries. Population Council conducts research worldwide to improve policies, programs, and products in three main areas: HIV and AIDS; poverty, gender, and youth; and reproductive health.
Currently, the Council is planning to conduct a Formative Research study on HIV Care and Support Continuum in the selected regions of Oromia, Tigray, Gambella and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Council invites qualified and experienced candidates to transcribe per-recorded qualitative interviews and translate them into English. The interview will be conducted in Oromia region in Oromiffa/Amharic languages. Successful candidates should fulfill the following requirements:
Specific responsibilities include:
· Transcribing key informant interviews and focus group discussions recorded in Oromiffa or Amharic to English;
· Cleaning, revising and editing transcription of the entire material in both languages is required.
Qualifications:
· B.A in Demography, Sociology, Anthropology or related field from a recognized University
Work experience and skills:
· Extensive experience in transcription of qualitative interviews;
· Fluent writing and oral skills in English and Tigrinya;
· Have excellent grammar and punctuation skills;
· Fast typing skills;
· Close attention to detail and ability to work in fast paced environment.
