Position: SBCC Program Officer
Reports To: Deputy Chief of Party
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Work as an integral part of the HC3-Ethiopia program team to strengthen SBCC capacity in Ethiopia, and support USG HIV prevention partners/Ethiopia Ministry of Health (MoH) and HIV/AIDS Prevention anti Control Office (HAPCO) in design and implementation of SBCC activities for core audience groups.
Serve as point person to support Ethiopia National SBCC Community of Practice and Ethiopia MoH HIV/AIDS SBCC Technical Working Group. Provide technical guidance and support to HAPCO and implementing partners to fill gaps including design and implementation of strategies, materials and training. The Program Officer scope of work may include (but is not limited to) the following:
Together with other HC3 staff, support SBCC capacity strengthening activities including coordination, design, development and implementation of SBCC training including short courses such as Leadership in Health Communication for USG partner organizations and Ethiopian SBCC practitioners among others.
Work with DCOP, Program Assistant and Administrative staff to develop scopes of work, MOUs, contracts and consultancies and write ups for HC3 activities, as needed.
Desired Qualification and Attributes:
• BA in Health Communication, Public Health, Development Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Communications and Journalism, Other related field
• MA preferred
• At least 6 years experience for BA, 4 for MA in areas related to public health, gender, development, communication
• Strong organizational skills; ability to work with minimal direction
• Training and experience in communications and media programs design and development, communications for development and communications related design software an added advantage
• Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team unit
• Experience in NGO setting is an advantage

Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Terms of Employment: Contract
Duration of Employment: 8 months with possibility of extension
