International Development Enterprises (iDE) is an international NGO dedicated to creating income and livelihood opportunities for poor rural households of Ethiopia through various projects implemented in different parts of the country. Currently iDE is preparing to launch implementation of an integrated project in three woredas of the central rift valley; namely, Adami tulu JidoKombolcha, ArsiNegelle and Dugda woredas. We are seeking to recruit qualified and experienced personnel for the five positions specified hereunder. Hence, interested individuals who meet the specified requirements are invited to apply for the job opportunities

Position 1: Team Leader


Key Responsibilities:


The Team Leader is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Project, which involves programmatic and resources (financial, human, logistics) management aspects. The Team Leader is responsible for the fulfillment of donor and government contractual obligations and represents iDE at all official functions within the project operational Woredas and Zones. He/she will closely work with partner GOs, NGOs, the private sector and smallholder farmers’ organizations to forge smooth relationship and coordination. He will facilitate external technical support, including consultancy missions and external evaluations.


Requirements:


• MSc Degree in Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, Plant Science, Rural Development, Natural Resource Management, and related fields.


• At least 10 years of demonstrated hands-on experience in agricultural development, food security, livelihoods and similar smallholder farmer development projects; out of which 5 years proven experience in senior management positions in the NGO sector.


• Proven experience and skills in managing and leading multidisciplinary team of experts as well as experience in budgeting, report-writing, and monitoring and evaluation


• Excellent leadership skills with particular skills to work as a catalyst and facilitator.


• Proven negotiation and communication skills; ability to professionally and effectively communicate with individuals, groups and institutions at various levels.


• Excellent organizational and decision-making skills.


• Mature personality, result-oriented, problem-solving attitude and ability to work independently.


• Willingness to live in rural towns; and ability to work with poor rural households and under stressful situations


• Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of local language (Afan Oromo) is of an advantage.


• Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite.


Duty station: Ziway town, with frequent travel to Project woredas and kebeles.


Position 2: Gender & Monitoring/Evaluation Officer


Key Responsibilities:


The Gender and M&E Officer takes overall responsibility for the implementation and management of gender, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment component of the project. S/he is responsible to develop and use appropriate gender guidelines and M&E and Impact Assessment systems and tools. Specifically, s/he will compile socio-economic baseline data on the target population; keep track of project progress and impacts on an ongoing basis; prepare progress and M&E/impact assessment reports; keep documentation of experiences, impacts and lessons learned; and produce publications for policy influence and information dissemination.


Requirements:


• MSc/MA in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Sociology, and related fields


• Proven experience in working in rural areas and on smallholder farmer development projects.


• Minimum of 3 years NGO experience directly related to gender analysis and M&E/ Impact Assessment of development and/or agricultural research projects;


• Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge Afan Oromo is of an advantage


• Strong analytical and writing skills.


• Team player, open-minded and readiness to learn new things.


• Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, and statistical software.


Duty station: Ziway town, with frequent travel to Project woredas and kebeles.


Position 3: Natural Resource & Agricultural Extension Facilitators (6)


Key Responsibilities


The Natural Resource & Agricultural Extension Facilitators will be responsible to support the target smallholder farmers to improve agricultural productivity and ensure food security through improved agronomic and sustainable land and water management practices. More specifically, he/she will be responsible to provide training and on-going extension support, to facilitate access to agricultural inputs and low-cost irrigation technologies, and to promote improved soil fertility management and on-farm water conservation practices. He/she will liaise and work closely with the government agricultural extension systems.


Requirements:


• Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Plant Science, General Agriculture, Agricultural Extension or related fields.


• A minimum of 3 year experience in working directly in rural areas and with smallholder farmers as extension agent, market facilitator, etc.


• NGO experience is of a great advantage.


• Good command of written and spoken English.


• Ability to speak Afan Oromo is compulsory.


• Team player.


• Highly motivated, result-oriented with the ability to handle intense pressure, willing to work in rural areas on a day-to-day basis.


• Motor bicycle driving license is compulsory.


Duty station: Ziway, Meki and Arsi Negelle towns (2 Facilitators per woredas)


Position 4: Project Finance and Administration Officer


Key Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Project Team Leader, the Project Finance and Administration Officer performs financial management and administrative duties and ensures compliance to the organization’s rules and regulations. He/she holds responsibility for ma1taining complete record of financial transactions and timely reporting. Also, he/she is responsible for personnel administration as well as property and fleet management.


Requirements:


• BA Degree in Accounting from a recognized university


• At least 5 years of proven experience as Senior NGO project accountant


• Administrative and/or human resource management experiences are of an advantage


• Familiar with NGO budget and reporting st up


• Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel


• Familiar with accounting software’s; preferably SunSystems


• Good command of written and spoken English


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Duty station: Ziway town, with possible travel to Project woredas and kebeles.


Position 5: Project Secretary & Cashier


Key Responsibilities:


The Project Secretary/Cashier will be responsible to manage all secretarial and cash management duties of the organization. This involves office management (office equipment, supplies, filling, etc), communications (letters, internet/emails, and reception), procurement, petty cash handling and making authorized payments.


Requirements:


• Diploma in Secretarial Science, Accounting, Business Administration or related fields.


• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in working as Secretary and Cashier.


• Experience with NGO, Bi-lateral Organization, UN Agency and/or Embassy is of an advantage.


• Excellent command of written and spoken English.


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel and Internet/email system.


Duty station: Ziway town, with possible travel to Project woredas and kebeles.
