WaSH and Nutrition Extension Field Officer Job at Nuru International Ethiopia - 2015

Background

 Nuru International Ethiopia is a registered international NGO working to end extreme poverty in rural Ethiopia. Currently, NIE is working in Boreda Woreda of Gama Gofa Zone, SNNPR and beginning rapid scaling. We are accepting applications for WaSH and Nutrition Extension Field Officer who are familiar with the current government health extension package and who have experience working with rural healthcare programs. We are looking for someone who is passionate for changing lives of rural women and children and willing to commit her/his time and expertise for Nuru’s cause of ending extreme poverty working as a member of a dedicated team.

Position Description

The position holder will be working closely with health extension workers and Rural Community supported by NIE. S/he will strongly work in improving rural community water, sanitation and hygiene and nutritional status of mothers and children. This is a field based position that demands ability and/or willingness to ride motorbikes and walk within rural communities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate the water and sanitation related issues with the community and Wereda sector office.Facilitate training, and provide any technical support, related to WASH and community based nutrition intervention program.Follow-up and supervise the implementation of WASH activities within the community in liaising with health extension worker and Wereda government sector.Collect, and submit monthly monitoring data.Coordinate and lead the for establish nutrition corners at health facilitiesAdvise and initiate nutrition related activities for the health care team including preparation of BCC materials Modify health curriculums with the collaboration of the HC team.Organize and facilitate trainings for Nuru Healthcare program jointly with Wereda government health sector.Undertake any assignments given by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Minimum BSc in Public Health, nursing, environmental health, human nutrition or other related fields At least 2 years of experience working in community based healthcare activities preferable working with NGOsGood understanding of the current government health policies Have a servant leadership attitudeHave good interpersonal communication skillsWilling to walk on foot in community and ride a motorbike Experience on working in rural communities and have a knowledge of government health policy.Fluency in English, Amharic. Intermediate Gamugna or Welaytigna skill. Knowledge of the operational area is advantageous

Job starting time:   Immediate

Term of contract:   Initially for six month, then depending on the performance of the employ the Contract will be long term fixed employment.
