The COMESA – Leather and Leather Products Institute (COMESA/LLPI) is an autonomous Inter-Governmental Institute with a Board of Directors appointed by the COMESA Council of Ministers to manage, administer and determine the policy of the Institute is accordance with the provision of its Charter.

Its Mission is to promote and develop the Regional (COMESA) leather sector through research and development, investment, capacity building, international cooperation and trade for enhanced productivity.


COMESA/LLPI is headed by an Executive Director who is the principal Executive Officer and assisted by various professionals, support and subordinate staff.
It is funded from assessed annual contributions of member countries, service charge fees, consultancy, grants and extra-budgetary funds from cooperating partners.


As part of building its capacity there is a need to recruit an Administration Assistant to enable it to implement its mandated objectives.


Position: Administration Assistant (GS)


Purpose of Job;


Plans, manages and oversees the human resources, administrative and operational activities of the Institute and to ensure that office and properties of the organization are insured, properly maintained and safeguarded day and night.


Place of work: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia


Terms of Employment (Tenure):


Three years contract with possible extension depending on the performance and institutional programmes, of course, it needs three months prohibition period.


Specific Functions and Responsibilities;


Under the overall supervision of the Head of Administration, Budget and Finance of COMESA/LLPI, the Administration Assistant will:


• Assist the Head of Administration, Budget and Finance in managing fixed assets and ensure these are being well maintained and secured and carry out comprehensive annually inventory;


• Monitor office security and supplies and ensure the cleanliness of the premises is maintained;


• Assist the Head of Administration, Budget and Finance on administrative and human resources procedures and ensure they are being adhered to;


• Ensure the occupational safety and health programme and life/group insurance scheme of employees;


• Monitor the daily activities and attendance of drivers, security guards, cleaners and gardeners and ensure their performance appraisal is conducted; Prepare periodic reports on human resources and other general service activities and submit to Head of Administration, Budget and Finance;


• Play a vital role in the implementation on administering of Quality Management (QMS) and Environmental System (EMS) requisite towards the Institute’s compliance.


• Undertake all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Head of Administration, Budget and Finance.
