Technical Support Expert (IT Expert) Job at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH - 2015


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Required


1.       Provide technical support to requests from the staff team in relation to PC hardware, software and associated peripherals.


2.       Deploy PC’s and associated peripherals including new installations and redeploy existing equipment as necessary.


3.       Deliver an effective IT support through the provision of a telephone/e-mail help desk


4.       Pro-actively provide information to the staff team on the progress of outstanding support inquiries.


5.       Install and configure operating systems to an agreed standard.


6.       Maintain the existing ICT equipment to an agreed standard, by performing upgrades, new installations and carrying out routine procedures.


7.       Compile support center technical documentation, guidelines and procedures and ensure they are disseminated to users.


8.       Proactively seeks information and utilizes analytical and creative problem solving skills along with standard processes and technologies resulting in secure and reliable connections to and use of systems, applications, and infrastructure.


9.       Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Head of GIZ ET ICT Service.


10.   In addition to the technical support the expert required to work on and have experience on


                         I.            Developing moderately complex software in C, C++, C#, Java, assembly language, or other selected languages


                       II.            Utilizing software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process


                     III.            Providing reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques

Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

•     Strong technical and analytical skills.


•     Solid experience in problem analysis and resolution of software problems.  Proven ability to function in a self-directed environment.


•    Must excel in a fast-paced, agile environment where critical thinking and strong problem solving skills are required for success.


•    Ability to handle clients professionally during all interfaces.


Skills


Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

•    Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.


•    Overseeing the operations and activities of a GIZ systems and networking infrastructure



Required qualifications, competences and experience


Qualifications


BSc degree in Information System, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related degree


Professional experience


Three years’ experience in end user computers and IT peripherals technical support, including one year supervisory work experience as well as telephone & Network System knowledge.


Physical Requirements


•          Occasional lifting of objects and installing network and telephone system


•             Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling


•             Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment


Computer Skills


Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications as well as query and control languages, End user support, troubleshooting window machines and network problems.
