Project Senior Manager - University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, MI

Job Summary The Senior Project Manager will direct and manage project development for the Center for International Reproductive Health Training (CIRHT) in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Responsibilities* Under general direction from the Executive Director of the Center, the Project Senior Manager will be responsible for the management, performance, and completion of the projects outlined in the Family Planning grant and will provide a single point of contact for those projects.

Take projects from original concept through completion. Lead project teams, develop project schedules, and determine resources needed. Ensure completion of detailed schedules for projects from initiation to delivery and keep key stakeholders informed of any deviations.

Prepare reports, presentations and correspondence related to project work for management review.

Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility to work proactively on a team while also able to work independently on many tasks. Proactively identify and raise issues and make recommendations, before such information is requested.

Provide analytical guidance and data analysis to support projects.

Collect and analyze global family planning project/program performance data and national benchmarks. Prepare written and graphic displays of the findings. Interpret findings and develop solution alternatives as appropriate.

Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Conduct project meetings and will be responsible for project tracking and analysis. Build outcomes research capacity for CIRHT and selected collaborating sites. Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic plan for CIRHT and the broader Ethiopia initiative at the University of Michigan. Collaborate, including convening of meetings, with other units and stakeholders around the UM community with regards to the Ethiopia collaboration, and represent CIRHT.

Ensure adherence to Family Planning grant guidelines and standards and ensure that program deliverables are met.

Required Qualifications* A Bachelors degree in relevant field (e.g., public health,epidemiology).

Minimum 2 years of experience working on research related projects/programs in an academic setting.

Experience working with global health programs including structuring research study protocols.

Demonstrated creative and analytical approach to issues.

Ability to assess competing priorities, manage workflow and meet operational deadlines in a complex organization with minimal on-site supervision.

Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and experience presenting complex analyses in a variety of executive forums.

Proven ability to function as a member of a team, build effective working relationships and demonstrate initiative.

Demonstrated ability to take initiative and tolerate a moderate degree of ambiguity.

Demonstrated project team management skills and experience from project kickoff to execution of study with deliverables.

Desired Qualifications* A Masters degree in public health, epidemiology, or other terminal degree in medical field such as M.D.
Health economics and outcomes research and epidemiologic experience.
Extensive hands on experience in running the gamut of research study projects.
Extensive training and experience in advanced epidemiology, biostatistics and public health.
