International Samaritan serves victims of severe poverty in developing countries by partnering with them and others to alleviate hunger, homelessness, endemic disease, and ignorance. International Samaritan programs are located in garbage dump communities in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Haiti, Ethiopia, and Egypt.
Description: The Program Assistant works under the direction of the Development Coordinator and International Program Director to provide administrative support to our Service Immersion program. In 2015, 350+ students and medical professionals will travel to our international service sites to partner with local communities to improve housing, educational opportunities, sanitation and medical services.
Responsibilities:
1. Administrative tasks including and not limited to copying, producing reports, filing, etc. Creating invoices, receipts, itineraries, trip manuals, and other forms
2. Booking airline flights
3. Tracking all trip registration paperwork
4. Organizing photos
5. Following up with individual website inquiries
6. Assist in posting social media
7. Additional tasks and projects assigned by the Program Director and Executive Director
Skills and experiences:
1. Highly organized self-starter.
2. Flexible: willing to learn and interested in improving efficiency on assigned tasks
3. Customer service experience preferred
4. Distinctly superior written and spoken English language skills.
Spoken and written Spanish language preferred.
5. Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
6. Knowledge of Windows and Mac platforms
Hours and compensation:
15 - 20 hours a week / $10.00 per hour, no benefits. Must work Tuesdays and establish consistent schedule to be coordinated with Program Director. Must be available to begin work by January 15, 2015.
