Title: Healthcare Program Specialist, Nuru Ethiopia

Reports to: Team Leader, Ethiopia

Desired Start Date: Mid-March 2015 (2 year full-time role w/ benefits)

Overview:

Nuru’s plan to address our partner communities’ preventative health needs is central to our overall, holistic and integrated solutions. The Healthcare Program Specialist will partner with local Ethiopian staff to carry out the design and start-up phase of the healthcare program’s co-created model under the guidance of the Healthcare Program Manager.

Specific Responsibilities:

Help design the healthcare program model for Nuru Ethiopia during the Program Planning Process (PPP)Work with Ethiopian team to build out effective and efficient processes and supervise daily activitiesRecruit, mentor and train Ethiopian staff as partners in the execution of all program activitiesWork closely with the Ethiopian staff to meet strategic program milestones, address challenges and maintain successful impact measurement systemsFacilitate capacity building and professional development with Ethiopian Healthcare staffCollaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team to design, implement, and refine effective monitoring and evaluation systems for Nuru Ethiopia’s Healthcare ProgramMaintain strong communication and relationships with the community, Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders at all timesCo-create a financially sustainable and scalable budget, monitoring expenses closely, and mentoring local staff on budget managementEnsure healthcare programs are truly sustainable, scalable, and create impactMaintain thorough documentation of programmatic decisions and achievementsMaintain clear and consistent communication channel with the Nuru International Healthcare Program Strategic AdvisorTranslate Nuru’s development philosophy and methodology to operations on the ground

Required Skills and Attributes:

Master in Public Health or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Health Education or Social Work with equivalent experience requiredAt least 1 – 2 years of experience managing healthcare programs in resource poor communitiesCommunity development experience including some experience creating systems and facilitating capacity buildingSignificant prior experience living and working in a resource poor country required, preferably in an African context. Ideal candidate would be familiar with Ethiopia and Amharic, not a requirementExperience with behavior change communication programs preferredSolid quantitative skills, experience with Excel and budgeting skillsStrong work ethic and commitment to organization’s missionAdvanced leadership, interpersonal communication, management and team building experienceEffective crisis management and rapid, innovative problem solving skills in uncertain environmentsHow to apply:
