Job Description


Concern Worldwide is an Iris-based non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern-Worldwide would like to invite dynamic and creative applicants for the following positions:

Job Title: Nutritionist
Number of Positions: One
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, with 50% visits to support nutrition projects in Amhara and SNNP Health and Nutrition Coordinator
Employment Duration: One year with possible extension
Liaising with internally: with staff in H & N at all level
Liaising with externally: with key MOH offices at Regional, Zonal and Woreda levels as appropriate; with donor representatives and with NGO partners as relevant


Job Purpose:



  • To ensure all ongoing nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive projects and activities are conducted as outlined in the detailed implementation plans; and reports ate timely and meet Concern’s, and various Donors’ specifications and standards

  • To provide technical support to develop new nutrition projects focusing on the promotion of nutrition sensitive agriculture

  • To build capacity of field staff in order to ensure quality service delivery


Person Specification


  • Masters or BSc Degree in nutrition, public health and other related field of studies with minimum 5 years or 8 years practical experience respectively in a development as well as emergency context

  • Minimum 4 years NGO experience

  • Expertise in managing, analyzing and reporting nutrition data and mentoring and staff training

  • Experience of the CMAM (Community Management of Acute Malnutrition) approach for treatment of malnutrition

  • Excellent analytical, monitoring and evaluation skills and the ability to write good reports in English

  • Good communication, networking and coordinating skills – NGOs, UN and government agencies

  • Flexible, reliable, culturally sensitive and ability to work in teams and in stressful environments

  • Proactive and be able to work with minimum supervision


Job Title: Health and Nutrition Senior Project Officer

No. of Positions: One

Duty Station: KindoKoyesha Woreda of Wolaita Zone, SNNPR

Reports to: KindoKoyesha District Integrated Development Project Manager

Terms of employment: Definite Period

Liaise with: Internally: with Concern South Area Office staff

Externally: with Government health offices, INGOs, LNGOs and other stakeholders

Job Purpose:



  • To ensure the design and proper implementation of appropriate interventions to strengthen the primary health care delivery system of health facilities and improve disease prevention and control program; family planning and MCH services, etc.

  • To develop and execute comprehensive capacity building support for the existing Health facilities and Workers for proper implementation of the national malaria epidemic and other communicable disease prevention, control and treatment program

  • To strengthen and ensure the provision of CMAM and related services at Health facilities as per national standard through providing regular on job training and supervise supervision support

  • To ensure the proper implementation of Health and Nutrition project activities including preventive health and nutrition components, etc. adhering to national standards and quality


Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential


  • BSc degree or diploma in public health, nursing, nutrition and other relevant field of studies with minimum 5 years or 8 years relevant experience respectively

  • Minimum 2 years NGO experience

  • Computer Literate

  • Fluent spoken & written English

  • Report writing ability

  • Excellent management capacity

  • Good communication skills

  • Excellent coordination and facilitation skill

Desirable


  • Good networking, presentation skills, and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity

  • Personal integrity, excellent analytical ability and proactive

  • Effective persuading and negotiation skills

  • Experiences in project management

  • Friendly, outgoing, willing to travel and work flexible hours

  • Working under pressure
