DIGITAL MEDIA & E-LEARNING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN - University of Washington Medical Center - Seattle, WA

The Department of Global Health was established in 2007, bridging the schools of Medicine and Public Health, with a mandate to harness the expertise and interdisciplinary power of all UW schools and colleges. The Department of Global Health has an outstanding opportunity for a Digital Media & E-Learning Support Technician . This full-time position will contribute to a range of e-learning projects within the Department of Global Health E-Learning Program.

The Department of Global Health E-Learning Program develops and manages online courses for an international audience and supports department faculty in the development and implementation of education, research, and service projects with integrated e-learning. This position will assist in the development of e-learning resources and online courses with responsibilities including audio/video editing, webinars/webcasting, faculty and staff support of learning technologies, technical support for web and videoconferencing, and technical support for students enrolled in online courses.

This position requires general skills in digital media and information technology and is an excellent opportunity for a flexible, motivated person who is a quick learner, detail-oriented, and takes pride in one’s work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under General Guidance From the Project and Technology Leads:
Customer Service

Consistently meet project timelines and ensure client expectations are met.

Provide support in developing, maintaining, and editing content for projects implementing e-learning and web-based learning

Provide support to local and international staff, faculty, and students in a variety of learning and communication technologies.

Anticipate and troubleshoot technical problems to ensure a quality experience for users.

Web and Video Conferences and Courses

Edit audio and video in production of e-learning resources

Setup web and videoconferencing equipment and support conferences at a variety of locations.

Support web conferences and videoconferences using multiple technologies

Collaborative and Creative Process and Product Improvements

Join discussions with other staff or faculty to design how technology will enhance educational offerings.

Participate in review and feedback meetings, keep minutes, and implement changes to e-learning and web products.

Work with the e-learning team to develop learning resources and maintain e-learning and course websites

REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's Degree in specific instructional area OR two years of college course work in major study area AND two years experience in the specific area of operation OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:
Familiarity with basic audio and video editing.

Ability to quickly learn to use and support e-learning authoring tools, web and videoconferencing systems, and learning management systems.

Familiarity with web content editing and basic HTML.

Experience using learning management systems, particularly Instructure Canvas.

Experience with e-learning authoring software such as Articulate Studio, Adobe Captivate.

Experience with Adobe Connect or other webcasting/remote meeting.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to work flexibly in a complex international environment – including evenings and early mornings as necessary.

DESIRED:
Experience supporting Polycom or other videoconferencing systems.

Experience with modern front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Experience editing content in web content management systems, particularly Drupal and Wordpress.

Condition of Employment:
