Every One - Head of Campaign


Job Title : EVERY ONE – Head of Campaign:
Country : Ethiopia
Job location : Addis Ababa, with regular visits to the field
Grade : 3.1. (Annual ? 29,078)

Introduction
The EVERY ONE Campaign is a five year global campaign launched in October 2009.

In Ethiopia, the campaign is part of the National Safe Motherhood and Child Campaign led by the Federal Ministry of Health. The EVERY ONE campaign is managed by Save the Children with the support of 17 other partner organizations operating in Ethiopia. The aim of this five year campaign is to see a significant reduction in newborn, child and maternal deaths in the country -- in line with global Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5.

Job Purpose:
The EVERY ONE Campaign in Ethiopia works together with other key government ministries, donors, media, concerned citizens including faith-based organizations, children and young people, health professionals and affected communities, and corporations to build a strong movement to create a strong and active constituency.

The Head of Campaign will have the following key accountabilities:
1. Strategic direction of the EVERY ONE campaign:
The Head of Campaign will lead the strategic development and on-going
reflection or revision of the EVERY ONE campaign in Ethiopia through:

2. Successful implementation of the EVERY ONE campaign:
The Head of Campaign will be responsible for the successful delivery of the
EVERY ONE campaign plan through:

- Strategic oversight and leadership: Maintain an overview of work across the four
pillars of activity (programmes, popular mobilization, political and policy change,
and income), monitoring delivery against activity and ensuring cohesion

- Leading the campaign team: Recruit and manage staff in the core campaign team;
Identify any HR, people and skills gaps in delivering the campaign and
provide/secure support

- Promoting learning and Knowledge Management: Contribute to the promotion of
best practice in Child Survival programming and campaigning/advocacy across
the SC Members in Ethiopia and globally, and incorporate learning back into the
Ethiopia work

- Supporting advocacy: Working with the technical and policy teams to build
effective relationships with relevant decision makers and partners influencing the
Child Survival agenda in the country – including national and state level

- Encouraging popular mobilization: Working with the SC team and coalition
colleagues to build and deliver a robust popular mobilization strategy that will
deliver against the campaign objectives including maintaining and supporting the
popular mobilization activities, including the races

- Ensuring robust monitoring and evaluation: Ensure robust M&E systems in place
to monitor and evaluate the impact of the campaign; Ensure SC monitors and
reports progress against key indicators

3. Sustain and developing innovative partnerships for the EVERY ONE campaign
The Head of Campaign will be expected to support and strengthen the existing
coalition of EVERY ONE partners, as well as promote new partnerships through:
- Promoting collaborative ways to work across the SC Members and the broader
campaign partnership
- Representing SC at external meetings with potential and existing partners.
- Developing new partnerships with the private sector as required

4. Communicating the EVERY ONE campaign to a wide audience:
The Head of Campaign will be expected to communicate the strategy in a
consistently inspiring and effective way through:

- Securing an effective flow of information about the EVERY ONE work in Ethiopia
to contribute to raising the public profile and achieving the campaign goals both in
Ethiopia but also within SCI

- Identifying and training ambassadors and spokespeople for media and external
events and acting as a spokesperson as required

- Facilitating effective contact and working relationships between staff in the
country programme and relevant contacts in the regional office and in head office.

5. Fundraising for EVERY ONE:
The Head of Campaign is expected to generate increased funding for the
campaign through:
- Working with fundraising staff to identify and pursue funding opportunities for our
Newborn and Child Survival work.

- Actively supporting proposals and representing the campaign to potential funders

Person specifications:
Demonstration of technical and/or organizational experience, established relations and reputation in Ethiopia will be considered assets. Ethiopian candidates are encouraged to apply.

- Masters level qualification or demonstrable understanding of relevant sector
required
- Technical qualifications in health or nutrition would be a substantial asset

Demonstrable experience of:
- Leadership either in an international NGO or National Body
- Leading, developing and implementing a campaign or multi-pronged strategy at
national level
- Managing a large scale multi-partner initiative
- Excellent project management and communication skills including influencing and
negotiating at different levels
- Political analysis, policy positioning and advocacy
- Field work in developing countries
- Fundraising experience
