Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for an anticipated five-year, USAID-funded project under the U.S. government's Feed the Future Initiative to assist the Ethiopian government in improving the competitiveness of livestock value chains. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include: serve as the key liaison between the project and relevant counterparts, provide managerial and technical support to the chief of party, and supervise project subcomponents and activities.
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in animal science, agricultural economics, or a related field Minimum 10 years of experience managing and implementing multifaceted livestock development programs, preferably in Ethiopia or the Horn of Africa Demonstrated success in engaging with host-government producer organizations and processors on livestock-related institutional reforms and private sector development Proven success in designing and introducing activities that transfer appropriate technologies Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity Proven success in managing and supervising staff on livestock or agriculture projects in developing countries Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge sharing desirable.
