RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Commercial:

• Preparing, in consultation with management committee, annual budgets for the facility & departments

• Responsible for delivery on budgets, allocation of resources, departmental objectives & inter-service coordination

• Setting up appropriate accounting system for managing cash flow & financial performance b) Performance management:

• Need to define service delivery standards. Put in place systems, control & measurement tools to ensure delivery.

• Set performance standards for staff. Have mechanisms in place to track performance & set in corrective action.

• Employee training & development; Recruit and arrange training abroad if necessary for promising Ethiopian staff.

• Public relation networking for building image of the facility c) Administrative:

• Ensure the collation of information and preparation of reports regarding patient statistics and attendance and timekeeping for all staff for submission to the Management committee and Board of Trustees.

• General administrative responsibilities towards staff welfare including arranging for transport, and salaries for staff on a timely basis.

• Operating manual and policies for the hospital need to be established and formalized. The candidate will need to bring his experience to that.

• On a day to day basis contribute to patient care and satisfaction by dealing with complaints.

• Maintaining the entire facility with its equipments, resources in good working condition for service delivery. Repair/maintenance budget being limited, this will call for proactive approach to maintenance & care and focus on reducing wastage.

• Records - Ensure the collation of information and preparation of reports regarding patient statistics, attendance and timekeeping for all staff for submission to the Management committee. There will be a software program in the eye hospital for hospital management and the candidate will be expected to review this and implement initiatives to get the full benefits from installed systems.

• Supervision and scheduling of staff: Schedule staff rotas for doctors, nurses, guards, drivers, admin. and accounts. Monitor performance of staff to ensure performance standards are maintained addressing any issues that may arise by taking appropriate action.

• Reports – Ensure that the daily, weekly, monthly reports are generated and submitted on timely basis to Management committee. Contribute ideas towards improvements for these reports. REPORTS TO: MANAGING TRUSTEE/TRUSTEES OF THE TRUST


A seasoned professional with overall 5+ years of experience in service/health care industry would fit the role. He should have strong understanding of, or exposure to, financial management systems, commercial aspects, cost improvement projects is essential. Should have an understanding of P & L, balance sheet items & related applications.
