Senior Nutrition and Public Health Experts (217281-927)


The positions are contingent upon calls for proposals from USAID anticipated over the next several months. This recruitment is intended to develop a pipeline of candidates for future programs.

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

Mercy Corps is seeking resumes from senior nutrition and public health experts for anticipated, long-term opportunities implemented under the Feed the Future initiative in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The potential positions include:

- Senior management and strategy positions such as Chief of Party
- Field-based technical advisory

The anticipated opportunities will focus on improved nutritional status, particularly for women and children, researching, designing and implementing guidelines and programs to prevent malnutrition and famine while fostering adequate community nutrition and health practices. Areas of program focus will include food utilization, Essential Nutrition Actions (ENA), community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), essential hygiene actions, behavior change communication, improved dietary diversity/consumption, strengthening community health structures, and increasing resiliency to food security shocks. Activities will integrate gender concerns to address the roles and inequities that women and minorities face regarding access, influence, and control over agricultural resources. Activities will also address environmental sustainability and community resiliency to the effects of climate change.

Organizational Learning: As part of Mercy Corps' agency-wide Organizational Learning Initiative, all team members are responsible for spending 5% of their work time in formal and/or non-formal professional learning activities.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

- Advanced degree at Masters level or above with a nutrition or public health focus preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience providing technical expertise or managing programs in nutrition, food security, or public health.
- Preference given to candidates with at least 5 years of USAID project management experience.
- Previous Chief of Party/Deputy Chief of Party experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills required.
- Fluency in English required (spoken and written).
- Regional experience and regional language fluency preferred.

ENVIRONMENTAL/LIVING CONDITIONS:

Potential position locations include Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Kenya, Liberia, Nepal, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Uganda.?

Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Staff are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC's policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
