Rural finance specialist

Chemonics seeks a rural finance specialist for an anticipated five-year, USAID-funded project in Ethiopia focusing on increasing agricultural productivity and marketing of staple foods and specialty goods. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world and demonstrate leadership, versatility, and integrity in their work.

This project aims to sustainably reduce poverty and hunger in Ethiopia by improving the productivity and competitiveness of value chains that offer job and income opportunities for rural households in Ethiopia. The rural finance specialist will oversee activities related to increasing rural access to finance.

Advanced degree in business administration, finance, banking, rural development, or related fields Minimum 10 years of experience in rural finance, value chain, and agricultural development programs Prior experience working on USAID projects preferred Demonstrated success in implementing programs to increase access to finance, including value chain and rural finance, and enable environment issues Ability to liaise with government ministries, NGOs, the private sector, and research organizations Knowledge of current developments in advancing value chain and rural finance in Ethiopia Demonstrated creativity in designing innovative financial packages and interventions Previous work experience in Africa, preferably in Ethiopia Fluent English requiredSend electronic submissions toEthiopiaAgFinRecruit@chemonics.comby December 16, 2010.
