HR Business Advisor (Regional HR Director - Africa)

Save the Children US, the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the U.S. and around the world seeks a Regional HR Director - Africa to be responsible for supporting successful implementation of Agency's Global Workforce Engagement (GWE) programs outlined in Getting to Great for Children 2008-12 strategy; Build capacity of country management teams and workforce to achieve strategic objectives; Adapt, localize and drive core & targeted GWE programs, policies, standards and practices for roll-out and implementation; Strengthen quality of HR management practices throughout the region; Promote & monitor compliance with labor codes and Agency standards throughout the region; Act as first point of contact for HR guidance and resolution of HR management related issues within the region; Translate HR needs of the region to relevant specialists at HQ, including partnering with sourcing team to build & manage a database of consultants; Support & guide recruiting of expatriate staff in close collaboration with Country Directors, Area Director and HQ HR department.

Requires ten plus years overall HR experience with 5 plus years in HR management; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; masters degree in relevant field a plus; Combination of education & experience in a complex organization dealing with people management issues and involving international staff; Well developed skills in at least 3 of the following areas: learning & development; resourcing; compensation & benefits; employee relations & communications; Successful working without supporting resources and influencing modern HR outcomes internationally with minimal process or intervention; Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills that encourage senior managers to seek your help and counsel to resolve HR issues maturely with minimal disruption; Ability to work with both direct and dotted line relationships; Leadership competence and broad vision that allows the Sr Dir HRBU and AVP/Area Director confidence to delegate responsibility fully and encourages country HR experts to develop & innovate; Fluency in English (verbal and written); Ability to travel internationally up to 25%.
