Ethiopia: Senior Project Manager, MIYCN Program (12 month contract) - Ethiopia


GAIN fights malnutrition in Ethiopia through innovative and sustainable models that increase access to affordable nutritious foods among communities vulnerable to malnutrition.


GAIN’s Maternal, Infant, Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) Initiative in Ethiopia has invested in two projects to address the high levels of stunting among infant and young children: to facilitate the introduction of nutritious complementary foods (CF) at national scale, and facilitate the introduction of Micronutrient Powders (MNPs).


GAIN is looking for a Senior Project Manager to coordinate and manage the entire MIYCN projects portfolio and to provide project management and strategic support to the Ethiopia Country Manager in implementing GAIN’s country level MIYCN projects.


The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the Ethiopian Government, partners and other civil society organizations to achieve impact through scalable models of complementary food production. This includes preparation of robust plans including action plans, developing and revising budgets, develop contracts and following up with implementing partners. Moreover, he/she will be working with technical working group under the NNP umbrella and the government to facilitate a supportive stakeholder and policy environment. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible to coordinate our work with UNICEF, MI, Alive and Thrive, Concern Worldwide, PSI and others, as well as identifying and running effective delivery channels and market outlets that are feasible in the project areas context, driving impact through regular supervision and monitoring of the project, accelerating growth in coverage through improved products, and develop innovative demand creation strategies and community level behavior change for optimal mother, infant and young children feeding.


The ideal candidate will have a strong proven experience in a leadership/ management position within private and international development sector, and have demonstrated success in building and managing multi-disciplinary teams in challenging program environments. Additionally he/she will have a degree in health, nutrition, food science, business administration, or equivalent, certification in project management is highly desirable. Moreover, the ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of public health, be fluent in English as well as have a good command of Amharic. He/she needs to be able to travel extensively.
