Job Description

BBC Media Action is the international development charity of the BBC. Established in 1998, the organization seeks to reduce poverty and provide information to people around the world, through media programmes and campaigns that inspire and inform. Since its foundation, BBC Media Action has worked in developing and transitional countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe on projects that deal with issues of health, resilience, governance, education, environment, livelihoods and emergency response.

Since 2012 BBC Media Action has been implementing a behavioural change communication intervention on maternal and child health. BBC Media Action’s Global Grant health project in Ethiopia aims to support improved reproductive, maternal and neonatal health by increasing the uptake of healthier Reproductive, Maternal, and Neonatal Health (RMNH) behaviours and practices in Amhara and Oromia regions. BBC Media Action produces two weekly magazine programmes, Jember and Biiftuu Jireenya through national and local radio broadcasters in the Amhara and Oromia regions of Ethiopia.

To evaluate the intervention, cross-sectional surveys were planned to be carried out at baseline, midline and endline. The Baseline survey was conducted in January 2013 and Midline survey was conducted in January 2015. In April 2016 BBC Media action is planning to conduct the Endline study that could be used to compare with the baseline survey data, to understand the differences of knowledge, attitudes and practices amongst target populations of interest, if any. The Endline study will consist of two separate surveys – one to capture the impact and outcomes of the programmes (Endline Impact and Outcome Survey) and one to capture the reach of the programmes (Endline Reach Survey). This RFP relates to the later (Endline Reach Survey).

Job Requirements

Research agencies with renewed license are invited to submit proposals for conducting fieldwork for a quantitative Endline Reach Survey on the basis of the information provided in the request for proposal document which could be collected by sending expression of interest to the organizations by using email below or from the organization’s office starting from February 26th, 2016.
