The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is a pan-African Non Government Organization founded in 1992 by five women ministers of education to promote girls’ and women’s education in sub-Saharan Africa in line with Education For All. The organisation's members include ministers of education, university vice-chancellors, education policy-makers, researchers, gender specialists and human rights activists.

FAWE's work shows that the lives of African girls can be changed if there is a strong voice articulating their concerns and continuously reminding educational authorities and other stakeholders of their responsibility to bring about gender-responsiveness in education.

Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE—Ethiopia National Chapter) would like to invite competent applicant for the following post:

Project Officer

Place of Work: Addis Ababa with frequent field trips to project areas Major Duties and Responsibilities:

He/She designs programs for the execution of the planned activities by the National Chapter. Establishes networking that better links the NC with stakeholders and finds ways and means of obtaining financial, material and technical assistance. Prepares and appraise different types of projects pertinent for the purpose of the NC. The program officer provides technical support pertinent to the effective and efficient running of the operation of the NC. Develop and design new programs including concept note/proposal preparation.

Qualifications and Work Experience:

The applicant must hold at least Bt degree in Economics, Development Studies, Social Science or in any related field(s) and a minimum of 3 years experience, preferably in NGO environment.

General Requirement for the Post:

Reasonably exposed to the GO-NGO-donor relationship; Good interpersonal quality and believe in team spirit; Able to work independently and keen to share knowledge and know-how; Report writing skills, fluency in English and familiarity with gender issues and knowledge of computer software’s, MS word, Excel and Access.

Terms of Employment: One year with possible extension based on performance.

Salary: 4,000.00 (Four thousand birr)
