ABOUT US GOAL has been working in Ethiopia since 1984 implementing a range of multi-sectoral development, resiliency and humanitarian responses. GOAL Ethiopia is currently working with street children, pastoralists and rural small holders and responds to humanitarian crises in Ethiopia by working closely with local communities, local government and other key actors with a strong emphasis on resiliency, preparedness and longer term impacts. GOAL Ethiopia’s major funders are USAID, OFDA, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid and UNOCHA.


ABOUT THE ROLE GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a very competent, motivated, experienced senior manager to join its Head Office team as ACD-P. You will be joining the organisation at a moving time of growth and change. You will be instrumental in providing support in the delivery of the Programme to the organisation and its employees.


ABOUT YOU You will be a key member of GOAL Ethiopia’s senior management team and will be responsible for the development programme, including a particular focus on GOAL’s recovery and resiliency programmes. GOAL Ethiopia places significant emphasis on sustainability and community participation and as the ACD-P will play a key role in ensuring the attainment of these goals. The ACD-P will be partially responsible for management of the technical team that supports water and sanitation, health, nutrition, livelihoods, children empowerment and protection and other activities in GOAL’s development activities in urban and rural parts of the country. with a particular emphasis on ensuring integration of activities, resiliency and an increasing need to link with the private sector to ensure better, more sustainable outcomes.


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Ethiopian valid, national or residence ID.

  • Minimum five years’ experience in managing complex development and resiliency programmes in food insecure settings.

  • Master’s degree in Development Studies or other relevant discipline.

  • Ethiopia specific experience in working in the development sector strongly preferred.

  • Experience of engaging with the private sector for improved developed outcomes and sustainability.

  • Senior management experience of consortia type projects, funded by USAID, DFID and similar.

  • Must have excellent presentation, oral and writing skills and significant experience in proposal development.

  • In-depth understanding of market system strengthening and a working knowledge of M4P methodologies.

  • Comprehensive understanding of management experience of climate change and climate change and resiliency programming.

  • Ability and experience in managing senior management personnel.

  • Significant experience in proposal development and report writing.

  • Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills to plan projects, timetable agreed activities and oversee staff activities.

  • Demonstrated management skills to deal with a large team and a myriad of tasks.

  • Excellent communication and training skills.

  • Good team player, flexible and capable of working with an international country team.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to locations outside Addis Ababa.

  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Sensitive to cross cutting issues like gender, HIV/ADIS, child protection and accounting and Gender.

  • Strong financial capacity.

Remuneration & Benefits


  • Salary – Negotiable

  • Transportation Allowance – 10% of monthly salary.

  • Medical Allowance – Birr 6,500.00/annum (will be added in your monthly salary)

  • Taxi fare – Birr 300.00

  • Pension – 11 % from the employer and 7 % from the employee
