Opportunity to join a leading global Oil & Gas Operator that is looking to recruit a Competent Lifting Operator to join them on a contract basis in Ethiopia.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Develops, writes and implements a Lifting Management System (LMS) for use by the yard materials gangs involved in materials handling in the laydown area on the drilling location
* Teaches, trains and mentors the yard gang individuals to assure a safe and efficient operating environment and issues certificates of competence as the individuals develop
* Leads all those involved with lifting operations in delivering the work scope in accordance with the applicable specifications, procedures, method statements, risk assessments etc., contained in the LMS
* Mentors the crane drivers to assure high quality risk assessments are carried out for all lifting activities, with particular attention to recognising the impact of change
* Produces and reviews lifting plans/risk assessments and method statements for abnormal lifting situations
* Assesses effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personnel and individuals' performance
* Carries out rigging loft and equipment checks as per the scheme of compliance
* Promotes and encourages team safety performance through participation in Tool Box Talks, Audits, Risk Assessment and performance through EHS&S
The ideal candidate will have:
* Current Construction Plant Competence Scheme CPCS Appointed Person Blue Card (Lifting Operations) or a National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPOR) Appointed Persons Card
* CPCS Modules
* A40 (Slinging and Lifting)
* A61 (Appointed Person (Lifting Operations)
* A62 (Crane Supervisor)
* Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and guidance. E.g. Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM, Work at Height, Confined Spaces etc
* Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
* BS 7121 Part 1 The Safe Use of Cranes
* Rigging Loft Management
* Experienced in Land based mobile cranes
* Minimum of 5 years lifting supervision experience within the oil and gas industry
