Background

Hohete Tibeb Share Company would like to recruit a Business Development Manager. The Company would like to expand the existing education services of its School (Ethio Parents’ School) in many geographical areas in Addis Ababa and across the Regions.
Key Responsibilities

The Business Development Manager will be part of the Management Team of the Company and will have a multi-faceted engagements. He/She renders regular support to the Company’s General Manager who will have the ultimate responsibility to implement the Company’s Strategic Plan that is approved by the Board of Directors. The Business Development Manager is also responsible for regular market survey, setting up new campuses through acquisition or leasing of properties, and maintenance of school campuses infrastructure at all times. The Business Development Manager is a key resource person for initiating strategic business development ideas and implementing strategies through preparing annual capital budgets and follow up the implementation of the same.

Essential Functions

The Business Development Manager:

• Establishes strategies, target markets, specific projects, priorities, timetables, and budget;

• Upon the Board’s approval of strategic plans; writes business plans and updates annually.

• Directs, coordinates and monitors all approved development projects to assure project effectiveness and timeliness.

• Identifies new geographical areas where the company intends to set up new campuses through developing and/or leasing premises from time to time.

• Prepares a Marketing Plan for enhancing enrollment in new campuses and existing campuses upon commencement of new academic year.

• With School Directors input, identifies school-related events that lend themselves to favorable publicity for increasing enrollment.

• Prepares, defends, and performs against annual business development budget; maintains records of cost estimates, approved budgets, and actual expenditures.

• Maintains necessary files and records to administer and monitor the company’s marketing activities.

• Serves as a liaison with all outside consultants in the areas of strategy development, marketing, advertising, and public relations.

• Participates in the Board’s Business Development Committee meetings, prepares meeting agenda, and publishes meeting notes;

• Analyzes companywide marketing efforts relative to the marketing plan, and reports to the management committee at least four times a year;

• Ensures that the Company’s School campuses infrastructure is maintained appropriately.

Required Qualification and Skills

1. Master’s degree in Economics, Business Management, Marketing, Civil Engineering, Education Administration or BA or BSc Degree in Economics/ Management/Civil Engineering with over 10-12 years experience in Business Development .

2. At least 5 years experience in Business Development /marketing services

3. Experience in preparing Business Plan

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language.

5. Decision-making abilities, accuracy and thoroughness, promptness and dependability.

6. Initiative and resourcefulness; demonstrated ability to propose new ideas to the attention of the General Manager

7. High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.

8. Ability to independently organize, plan, and control workload.

9. Ability to gain the confidence of the General Manager and to earn the respect of the management team and education staff.

10. Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along well with diverse personalities; tactful, mature and flexible.

11. Participative management style, advocate of team concept.

12. Willingness to complete projects after hours, if necessary.

13. Excellent Knowledge of using General Purpose Software such as Microsoft Office Applications.
