The EcoSec department of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia, would like to fill the following vacant position based in Mekelle, Tigray region.
Field Officer (Economic Security/ EcoSec)
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Is the Sub-Delegation (Mekelle) focal point for all technical matters related to agriculture, food security and micro credit scheme.
- Contributes to the understanding of the general economic security situation of ICRC target populations: families of missing, returnees and vulnerable households affected by the border closure.
- Conducts agro assessments, designs and participates in the set-up of small agro programmes.
- Regularly participates in field assessments (in Tigray and, possibly, in Afar), monitors the implementation of the agro programme and provides technical support and reports on progress.
- Monitors the implementation and follow up, in partnership with ERCS, of the micro economic initiatives, through micro credit loans.
- Closely works and supports the ERCS (Adigrat branch, or any other branch involved in EcoSec activities) in their objective to identify households matching criterion set to receive micro credit loan or seeds and tools.
- Contributes to the ERCS branches capacity building in any EcoSec activities, particularly in zones where such activities are new to the branch.
- Assists with the beneficiary selection, follow up, and implementation of the above.
- Participates in planning and implementation of agro programmes within the framework and in accordance with the objectives set in the PfR.
- Represents the ICRC in relevant agriculture and micro credit scheme meetings and seminars / workshops with other humanitarian organisations.
- Develops and maintains a network of interlocutors in the field of micro credit scheme and agriculture.
- Ensures that institutional reports, assessments, monitoring and other reports are written within the relevant period and structure.
- Provides support to EcoSec programme manager.
- Contributes to the various institutional internal reporting.
