FHI 360’s Civil Society and Peacebuilding Department (CSPD) supports citizens to mobilize effectively to influence policy, improve lives, and build peace. CSPD works with civil society and governments to increase credibility, visibility and effectiveness by building capacity to:

* Advocate for social justice, economic reforms, fiscal transparency, gender equity and the prevention of human rights abuses such as human trafficking and violence against women;
* Promote peaceful solutions to conflict, support peace negotiations, produce radio and television programs to promote social dialogue and tolerance;
* Solve community problems, engage youth in civic affairs and provide needed services to citizens;
* Develop diversified revenue streams and cooperate with business and media sectors; and
* Increase national and local governments' responsiveness to citizens.
Position Description:
CSPDis currently seeking aDeputy Director I, Programs /Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP)for an anticipatedPeace and Developmentprogram in Ethiopia which will aim to increase resiliency to conflict, focusing on conflict management and governance dynamics of natural resource management, livelihoods, and climate resilience. Under the direction of the Chief of Party, this position will assist the COP with all responsibilities, including the development and implementation of the project’s vision, strategy, and technical direction. S/he will be responsible for the implementation of the strategy agreed with the funder for enhancing the Government of Ethiopia’s (GOE) legitimacy and effectiveness to improve resilience to conflict.
Specific job responsibilities will include:
* Assist the Chief of Party with strategic and operational planning, including work planning, training initiatives, and ensure project compliance with all contractual reporting and financial requirements of funder and FHI 360;
* Management of deadlines, drafting of reports, maintenance of records, and monitoring achievement of benchmarks in the contract;
* Assist the Chief of Party in creating and maintaining good working relationships with funder, GOE counterparts, local organizations, and other program partners;
* Serve as acting Chief of Party in his/her absence; and
* Provide technical support and oversight of key program areas.

Minimum Requirements:
* Master’s degree or its international equivalent in international development, international affairs, community development, business administration, conflict resolution, international development, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Minimum of 8+ years experience providing training and/or technical assistance to government institutions, civil society organizations (CSOs), and/or community institutions, preferably with a focus on peacebuilding, collaborative governance, organizational/institutional capacity building, and/or mitigating conflict related to natural resource management, livelihoods, and climate change;
* Experience managing and implementing multiple, simultaneous development activities and several staff members under a large, donor-funded project;
* Experience as a trainer/facilitator using participator approaching, and experience developing professional training materials a plus.
* Demonstrated ability to think strategically and navigate politically sensitive terrain;
* Proven record of excellent management, leadership, and decision-making skills;
* Familiarity with US government-funded programming, rules and regulations preferred; and
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Amharic fluency.
