Background:

DAI is looking to work in Ethiopia to support economic growth by developing the private sector to create a business enabling environment which will help industries have access to both credit and finance. The objective is to create jobs whilst promoting green growth. A large emphasis will be supporting women and children in the marketplace. We will seek to address many issues which face Ethiopia and will look to strengthen exports, product diversification, competitiveness, productivity. In addition, we will focus on working with banks to build their capacity to provide loans and credit to emerging businesses.

Objective of the role:

We are seeking applications from highly experienced private enterprise specialists (long term and short term) who have demonstrated success in working on programmes where they have promoted Public Private Partnership to address weaknesses in polices and institutions and have addressed market failures by innovating new business models and technologies that will benefit the poor.

General Positions that we are recruiting for include:

• Value Chain Specialists with a focus on the Leather, Cotton and/or Horticulture industry


• Trainers/Capacity builders with a focus on the Leather, Cotton and/or Horticulture industry


• Business Development Services Specialists with a focus on the Leather, Cotton and/or Horticulture industry


• Export Promotion specialists with a focus on the Leather, Cotton and/or Horticulture industry


• Business Enabling Environment Specialists


• Challenge Fund Managers


• Grants Managers


• Monitoring and Evaluation specialists with a strong understanding of Value For Money


• Public Private Partnership specialists


• Market Linkages Specialists


• Green Growth Experts


• Gender Specialists with experience of raising female participation in the workplace


• Technical Vocational Education Training specialists – experience in strengthening of the partnerships between TVET and private sector projects

 

Experience

• At least 7 years of experience in the chosen discipline


• Working knowledge of DFID and donor funded projects


• Working knowledge of DFID’s Value for Money approach preferred


• Advanced degree preferred


• Ethiopia/SSA experience


• Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential


• Fluency in Amharic would be an advantage
