Monitoring Assistant (9 Positions)

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger and the world’s largest humanitarian organization. WFP uses food assistance to promote food security, which implies access of all people at all tames to the food needed for an action and healthy life.

WFP works in 73 countries worldwide to achieve its strategic objectives of saving lives and protecting livelihoods in emergencies, preventing acute hunger and investing in disaster preparedness and mitigation measures, restoring and rebuilding livelihoods after emergencies, reducing chronic hunger and under nutrition as well as strengthening the capacity of countries to reduce hunger. In Ethiopia, WFP works to support Government programmes addressing hunger by using direct food assistance where it adds Value on and develop the Government’s capacity to implement hunger solutions. WFP Ethiopia oversees one of the biggest WFP operations worldwide currently targeting about 6.5 million people through its Protracted Relief and Recovery Operations and Country Programme.

WFP has a total of about 710 staff at its Country Office in Addis Ababa and In 12 Sub/Field Offices.

Position: Monitoring Assistant (9 Positions)

Terms of Reference
The Monitoring Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: Verify the planned movements and distribution of toed or non-food items, reporting issues or discrepancies to the supervisor for timely resolution of problems and to ensure that the quantity distributed and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards. Maintain information records and monitoring plan documentation, such as records of commodity movements and programme checklists, in order to assist in the effective delivery and distribution of food items or non- food items, Collate assistance programme(s) data in accordance with clear direction, in order to support programme reviews and informative decision-making. Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services, Receive and collate comments and feedback from cooperating partners, beneficiaries, and beneficiaries, to support identifying programmatic issues with a view to fostering efficient operations. Provide guidance for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to complete self-monitoring tasks and to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas, Prepare field mission reports to document programme implementation, Follow set emergency response processes and procedures for emergency food assistance
