Save the Children International (SCI) Ethiopia Country Office is looking to hire a Finance Director to lead a finance department where we believe will give a chance to have impact and make a difference in financial management in SCI’s largest country office. JOB SUMMARY:

The Finance Director is a key member of the Senior Management Team contributing to strategic leadership and operational financial management of Ethiopia Country Office in both development and emergency contexts. The Finance Director is responsible for setting and implementing finance policies, procedures and systems in Ethiopia country office in accordance with Save the Children policies and standard operating practices and donor requirements.

The Finance Director ensures the provision of effective and efficient support services to the country program that strikes the right balance between speedy delivery and control. The director will operate in matrix organizational structure whereby he/she needs to provide oversight in internal control, financial reporting, financial data accuracy and integrity at the head office level and across the 44 field offices that SCI operates in through their Hub offices. He/she is expected to monitor accurate and timely submission of quality finical reports according to members, donors and government regulations and ensure submission of effort report. The Finance Director is responsible to manage the Country Office financial systems and provide the SMT and all budget holders a monthly update on the budget variance analysis. In the event of emergency, the incumbent is expected to ensure prompt support is provided at scale and in line with the rules and principles by working closely with the regional offices. In addition, the position holder has key role in ensuring the effective and efficient use Save the Children’s resources and work closely with other departments to create a zero tolerance culture towards fraud. The Finance Director will lead and mentor a team of finance staff, build their capacities, manage their performance to ensure that they implement finance systems appropriately in order to support the achievement of results for children.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Recommended a minimum of 10 years management experience in a corporate or an NGO environment, of which five years at leadership level within the finance department of a national or international organizationCPA or equivalent degree (CA, ACMA, ACCA) strongly recommended.Excellent understanding of business and financial planning including strategic modelingExcellent analytical skills – the ability to analyze complex financial data and design and produce effective management informationExcellent experience of budgeting and budget managementExcellent understanding of financial systems and proceduresStrong business acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic decisionsExcellent experience of computerized accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint and WordStrong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlinesAbility to build and manage, a proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessaryWillingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergenciesA full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environmentUnderstanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives and valuesWritten and verbal fluency in EnglishHow to apply:
