Short Term Consultancy for Nutrition Proposal Writing

I.         Overview of International Medical Corps Ethiopia Mission  

 

International Medical Corps has been operational in Ethiopia since 2003 with multidimensional development programs in such areas of Primary Health Care (PHC), Nutrition, Reproductive Health (RH), Maternal and Child Health, Mental Health, Gender Based Violence (GBV), Livelihoods and Disaster Risk Reduction as well Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH).  As a pro-poor, non-partisan and humanitarian organization, International Medical Corps addresses the developmental needs of vulnerable segments of local communities in Oromia, Somali, Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Regional State and Care, maintenance and emergency needs of refugees in Somali region Dolo-Ado and Gambella Refugee camps.

International Medical Corps continues addressing the survival and developmental needs of disaster affected and poor beneficiaries various parts of the country and refugee camps through the financial support of various bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies, most notably, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR); the European Commission’s Humanitarian Office (ECHO); United Nations World Food Program (WFP);  United Nations Fund for Population Agency (UNFPA) the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM);  International Rescue Committee (IRC); the World Health Organization (WHO) ; and many private donors.

Currently the mission is in the process of starting nutrition response in Jewi camp, Gambella.  Thus, International Medical Corps seeks an experienced nutrition proposal writer for 12 days to develop one proposal for Jewi camp based on the information provided from refugee coordinators at Gambella. The consultant will work from Addis Ababa.

II.           Overview of the Assignment

The specific duties of the consultant

·         Prepare detail timeline for the proposal write up considering International Medical Corps Ethiopia and HQ review

·         Review documents ad rapid assessment reports relevant for the Jewi Nutrition program.

·         As necessary, discuss with ARRA, UNHCR and other IPs to generate more information about the Jewi nutrition program.

·         Draft the technical and budget proposal, work closely with IMC program and finance staff to review and improve the draft proposal.

·         Finalize and submit the first improved draft proposal, address HQ and donor comments and submit the final proposal to IMC.

III.             Deliverables

·         Draft Proposal document as per the BPRM format

·         Final proposal document addressing IMC’s and donor comments

I.                   Qualification

a.       BSC/MPH degree on nutrition or health

b.      Proven experience on proposal development

c.       BPRM experience will be preferred.
