Field Coordinator

The Field Coordinator will coordinate programmatic work in FCA Ethiopia Country Program and contribute to international fundraising and ACT activities in region. The Coordinator will report to the Regional Representative in the Eastern Africa Regional Office (EARO), Nairobi, Kenya.

Duties and responsibilities:

* Plan, budget, monitor, report and evaluate humanitarian and development projects of the FCA Ethiopia Country Program (including the Regional Somali Refugee Programme in Ethiopia, Djibouti and Yemen) in accordance with FCA Policies and Guidelines, ensuring programme quality throughout the PME cycle

* Monitor the humanitarian situation in Ethiopia

* Support capacity building in partner organizations

* Support fundraising with global partners (ECHO, UN)

* Build networks with local and international humanitarian and development operators in the region.

* Undertake other duties as designated

The contract for the assignment will be made for 6 + 6 months starting on 15.3.2011 with possible further extension depending on the funding situation. The assignment will begin with a work orientation period in Helsinki, FCA HQ. The salary is based on FCA collective agreement. Monthly salary in the beginning of contract will be 2495 - 2839 €. The Field Coordinator post is a non-family posting.

Competence and Personal Requirements:

* Experience in development cooperation and/or humanitarian aid field operations with NGOs in developing countries

* Good knowledge or proven experience in project management, including project financial management,

* Good understanding of development and humanitarian approaches and standards,

* Experience in cooperating with local organizations and authorities as well as international actors

* Willingness to travel in the region

* Fluent in English.
