Deputy Chief of Party, Ethiopia
We are currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded Feed the Future project in Ethiopia that will focus on agricultural development, agribusiness and market Development. This project will work to sustainably reduce poverty and hunger by improving the productivity and competitiveness of value chains that offer jobs and income opportunities for rural households. The Deputy Chief of Party responsibilities for this program include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

• Support the Chief of Party in attaining project goals and objectives by providing technical advice and direction when appropriate.


• Oversee day-to-day planning, design and operations of project and technical teams to ensure effective project implementation.


• Responsible for ensuring integration and synergies across project activities.


• Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of reports and documents to USAID, national governments, ACDI/VOCA headquarters and other partner organizations.


• Work closely with project partners and beneficiaries as well as private sector associations in the region to provide technical and organizational assistance.


• Oversee and provide technical guidance to the project’s technical directors.


• Preparation or supervision of work plans, financial, logistical and other documents.


• Recommendation and evaluation of proposed staff.

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in agribusiness, economics, trade, business, agronomy or a related field.


• Minimum 7 years of experience working in developing countries; preferably on agricultural value chain development.


• Proven Deputy Chief of Party experience on a large, complex USAID-funded project.


• Ability to collaborate successfully with host-country government officials, international donors, and private sector stakeholders.


• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.


• Extensive management experience and strong leadership and communication skills required.


• Work experience in Ethiopia and/or other East African countries preferred.


• Strong communications and interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to productively interact with a wide range and levels of organizations (government, private sector, NGOs, and research institutions).


• Demonstrated ability to be collaborative across projects, flexible and creative.


• Fluency in English required.
