Job Description
Under the supervision of the U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa Information Resource Center (IRC) and with day-to-day interaction with the American Space (AS) coordinators at the National Archives and Library Agency (NALA), the Program/Outreach Specialist will plan and implement dynamic and innovative programs for target audiences identified by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy (PAS) and the AS at NALA. Generate program ideas and design and develop program goals and objectives. Manage and implement programs using state-of-the-art technology and resources at the AS. Provide technical and programmatic training, guidance and support to AS coordinators at NALA and other regional American Spaces, as appropriate. Maintain relationships and track regular program participants. Train AC staff and enhance their programming and ICT skills.

Reports To: The IRCD at the U.S. Embassy, and also routinely reports to Give Hope Ethiopia and NALA Program Coordinators
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, National Archives and Library Agency
Duration: Two years with possibility of an extension
Salary: ETB 15,000 —23,000
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate the development, implementation, and execution of programs, public engagement events, and other initiatives designed to achieve the overall U.S. Embassy goals and public diplomacy objectives.
- Conduct research to evaluate and assess the quality of the programs’ results.
- Creatively determine areas requiring public engagement and plan for program implementation.
- Train AC staff in program planning and implementation, as well as management of technologies.
- Provide and/or coordinate the provision of technical guidance, consultation, and support on day-to-day program-related the need and issues.
- Develop and utilize a range of creative promotional and informational presentations, and/or resource materials related to program activity data; develop, write, edit, and ‘resent comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations.
- Manage, implement, and/or conduct programs using AC technology and resources including the 3D printer, doodler, etc.
- Engage youth audiences through social media tools and provide social media as necessary.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, information technology, communications, social sciences or any other related fields; at least 2 years of work experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse environment.
- Strong ICT skills and ability to use them for the development and delivery of programs.
- Demonstrated professional knowledge and operational expertise in a variety of program focus areas.
- Excellent command of English and Amharic languages.
- Program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to determine informational needs and to collect and analyze information using ICT.
- Ability to develop and deliver both oral and written presentations.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources.
