Nutrition Causal Analysis Program Manager (NCA PM)

Job Description



1 : Participate to  the Link Nutrition Causal Analysis following the Link NCA guidelines. Activities :


  • Perform Link NCA study following the steps outlined in the Link NCA guidelines.

  • Leads and participate to the preparatory work (define ToR, launch recruitment process for national teams, prepare technical expert workshop, clarify roles and responsabilities during the Link NCA study).

  • Participate to the identification of the main causal hypotheses through discussions with teams and extensive reading of research reports / assessments / surveys.

  • Participate to the presentation and validation of  the list of hypotheses to be tested with technical partners (academics, government, UN, NGOs) during a workshop.

  • Conduct the quantitative survey (SMART and Risk Factors) under the supervision of the Link NCA Analyst :

  • Field data collection.

  • Daily data entry supervision and checking.

  • Database cleaning.

  • Ensure the quality of the data.

  • Analyze and interpret results.

  • Write the SMART survey report as well as the Risk Factors Survey report.

  • Participate to the presentation and validation of the results with partners (academics, government, UN, NGOs) during an expert workshop.

  • Undertake the response analysis process with the involvement of technical teams:

  • Situation analysis.

  • Potential response options identification.

  • Response option selection.

  • Response planning

2 : Team management


  • Participation in the identification of human resource requirements for the study.

  • Adapt job descriptions of the team if necessary.

  • Participate in the recruitment of its team with the Link NCA Analyst and HR department.

  • Supervise and manage its direct employees (supervisors and enumerators).

  • Train its team to Link NCA survey methodology (SMART survey and Risk Factors survey).

  • Promote respect for the organisation Charter and prevent fraud and power abuse.

  • At the end of the mission, conduct performance evaluation & leave references for each team member

3: Contribute to the Link NCA capitalization and contribute to the improvement of the Link NCA methodology.


  • Contribute to the capitalization of the field tools used for the Link NCA.

4 : Liaise with the authorities/partners


  • Communicate the programme’s activities to the authorities/partners

  • Represent ACF in meeting with authorities/partners when needed at woreda level.


Diplomas  :Master degree in sociology, social sciences, or nutrition with experience in NGOs

Required skills:


  • Excellent knowledge of English and Oromifa

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong management and leading skills.

  • Capacity to organize and lead a one week training.

  • Previous experience as a SMART manager.

  • Knowledge of EXCEL  and WORD

  • Knowledge of KAP methodology is a plus.

  • Knowledge of the Borena zone and local culture is a plus

Experience in nutrition, food security, health, mental health, care practices and/or WASH are a plus
