Position: Senior Editor in Chief
Place of Work: Addis Ababa
Educational Qualification: BA degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, language and literature or other related field.
Work Experience: Eight years experience out of which two years as Editor in Chief or communication Officer
Salary: As per the Bank’s salary scale
Term of Employment: Permanent
The Job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
- To produce, publish and disseminate business information and business development using appropriate communication channels to facilitate two way communications between top management and employees of CBE.
- To plan, coordinate, direct and oversee the production of all types of publications and ensure that they are in agreement with the bank’s editorial policy.
- To demonstrate good judgment and strong sense of ethics in deciding what materials to publish with respect to promoting the image of the bank and their capability to appeal to readers.
- To select articles and other items those appeals to the readers and get approval from Manager-Corporate Communications and /or Director-Business Development before printing or dissemination.
- To follow up the payment of invoices in accordance with the term of contract and monitor costs associated with publications to ensure that they are within the bounds of the budget and cost effective.
- To ensure that all purchase of services and contracts made with printing presses meet the requirements specified by management and are in accordance with law and regulations of the country.
- To carry out related research works.
- To review, rewrite and edit the writer’s work for publication or dissemination, offer comments to improve the work and suggest possible titles.
- To read and evaluate manuscripts submitted by freelance writers and proof read response letter about published materials regarding CBE.
- To review and edit electronic newspaper or magazines and text for websites and also do original writing.
- To perform other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies:
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic Languages.
- Familiarity with Electronic Publishing, Graphics, Video Production Equipment, Scanners and other electronic communications equipment.
- Knowledge of computer software to combine on-line text with graphics, audio, video and animation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
