We are recruiting to fill the position:
Manager, Strategic Planning
Duty Station: Head Office-Addis Ababa
Reporting to: Chief Strategy Officer
Job Purpose
Lead the Strategic Planning unit and support the company in formulating its strategy. He/she is responsible to integrate ECX’s strategic plan with its vision and mission, compiling action plans, analyzing external business environment, anticipating market opportunities as well as risks and analyzing business performance. Devise plans and ensure their implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of the Unit.
- Formulates the company’s strategy, communicates and documents it.
- Prepares and finalizes corporate annual plan.
- Determines the key performance indicators for corporate goals.
- Makes recommendations on alternative courses of actions.
- Prepares and submit period performance reports (annual, nine months, mid-year, quarterly, and monthly.
- Prepares and finalizes ECX departmental action plans and measures their performances.
- Monitors strategic plan implementation and process improvement.
- Measures and analyzes the company’s performance against the annual plan/targets.
- Organizes ECX Corporate Executive Council meeting and presents performance reports.
- Analyzes business performance, industry trends, existing or new regulatory requirements and their impact on the exchange.
- Initiates special studies, market and competitive research pertaining to the future of the exchange.
- Evaluates current business patterns that might affect the strategic planning and propose solutions for those that critically affect the Exchange’s operation.
- Provides leadership and management support to the strategic planning team.
- Designs and periodically updates the Unit’s manual.
- Produces the unit’s action plans that is aligned to the strategic plan.
- Delivers monthly and quarterly, annual report on the performance of the unit.
- Orients, mentors and trains staff; assigns responsibilities, supervises and monitors their performance.
- Performs other related tasks assigned by immediate supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience;
- BA or MA/ MSc Degree in Management/Finance/Accounting/ Marketing, Economics or related field
- B.A. & 7 years of experience OR M.A. & 5 years of experience in strategy, planning and analytical position in a financial or agricultural marketing industry.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Excellent leadership, planning, time management & prioritizing, organization and decision making skills.
- Ability to motivate staff and build teams.
- Excellent communication skills; presentation and report writing skills.
