DISTRIBUTER DEVELOPMENT PARTNER

Job Description



The purpose of the Distributer Development Partner is to implement a customer focused service, improving competitiveness in each segment, ensuring growth in brand, sales volume, market share and upholding the Dashen Brewery Corporate reputation at all times.


KEY RESSPONSIBLITY


  • Establish, build and maintain good working relationship with Dashen Brewery customers (existing and new);

  • Effective database management:

–          Ensure customer details are accurate;


–          Trade license and Tax Identity Numbers are updated;


  • Services existing customers, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets;

  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of customers;

  • The following checked daily per outlet:

–          Stock per brand and pack;


–          Product handling;


–          Location of fridges and their status;


  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analysis;

  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, and other trade offerings etc.;

  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments;

  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management and providing customers with feedback;

  • Provides historical data by maintaining records on area and customer sales, as well as customer account information;

  • Contributes to team effort by ensuring sales targets are met and exceeded;

Manage the following with every sales call/visit:


  • Capture all sales call information on Sales device, transmitted to Regional office after each call;

  • Sales review – discussion with outlet owner or nominated manager on outlet’s sales performance, identify challenges and ways of assisting the outlet to grow;

  • Stock rotation – Ensure that stock rotation principles are in place and followed in management of stock;

  • Pricing – Ensure that the outlet adheres to the RRP for that specific segment; Ensure that competitor brand pricing is captured as well as market share in outlet;

  • Availability- Ensure that specified brand and packs are available for consumers as per the specific segment;

  • Promotional activity and feedback – Plan and execute promotions as per the segment, make sure that objectives of the promotion are met and that feedback of its success is captured;

  • Outlet look and feel – Critically assess the outlet inside and outside in terms of branding, clutter and general look and feel; Promotional items (including price and brand posters ) to be displayed correctly;

  • Space management – maximize available space, effective displays and points of interruption;

  • Asset management – Ensure assets invested in the outlet are accounted for;

  • Service and product quality issues from customer dealt with. Issues raised with specific departments and regular feedback given to customer until the issue has been resolved;

  • Understand the credit policy and its application and requirements. Assist eligible customers with their applications;

  • Understand and support the company’s Route To Market strategy;

  • Apply and assist customers and Key Distributors to obtain their orders;

  • Assist customers in calculating their model stock for various times of the year (peak and off-peak) and how this can be used when ordering and to ensure they always have sufficient stock;

  • Asset management – Ensure that the Asset Register is up to date and any changes are communicated and updated on the asset register. Ensure that all contracts for assets invested in outlets are signed and filed as per policy.

  • Vehicle: ensure safe driving habits, to be kept clean at all times, regular maintenance to be planned;

–          Mobile phone;


–          Capturing device;


  • Fridges and draught equipment in trade- in working order and serviced at required intervals;

  • Budget management – Free beer issued account and funds available for competitive tactical practices reconciled monthly, spend and reasons for such noted for manager’s review;

  • Effective use of credit:

  • Ensure thorough understanding of credit policy and its application;

i.    Customers who are eligible;


ii.    Process and forms required;


  •  Assessment and implementing credit to maximize sales opportunities as well as facilitate deliveries;

  •  Product handling – training of outlet staff to ensure they adhere to the specific guidelines as set by Dashen Brewery;

  • Review of routes scheduled and execution thereof;

  • Development of visibility in outlet and in trade;

KEY DISTRIBUTOR SPECIFIC:


  • Ensure that the customer has stock management principles in place and are adhering to the FIFO principles (stock rotation is understood and applied by warehouse/storeroom team);

  • Commercial training for outlet owner/manager arranged;

  • Determine training needs to for outlet owner and team and facilitate training (formal/informal);

  • Warehouse and fleet condition checked – adequate safe storage and transportation of brands;

  • Assist outlet with route optimization, taking retail customer requirements into account (delivery days, order size);

  • Ensure customer uses required systems (internet and packages specified) to ensure accurate information and reporting;

  • All customer information, forecasts and reports up to date and reviewed with customer- ensure action plans in place where gaps occur;

  • Ensure sorting of empty containers from retail customers before sent back to brewery;



Job Requirements 


  • BA Degree graduate in Marketing, Sales, Business management and economics.

  • Two years’ of experience in similar positions.

  • Computer knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc)

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Fluency in written and spoken English    and knowledge of  the regional language is a requirement.
