Job Description
The Consortium of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation and Welthungerhilfe plans to start in April 2016 with the implementation of the project Sustainable Natural Resources Management for Enhanced Food Security in Borana Zone, Ethiopia, an initiative of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), implemented in cooperation with the Government of the Oromia Regional National State.
For its activities at zonal level, the Consortium will set up a Project Advisory Team (PAT) consisting of four technical advisers, namely Adviser Rangeland/Natural Resource Management (Team Leader), Adviser Water/WaSH (not advertised), and DRM), Adviser Livelihoods & Cooperative Development and Adviser Disaster Risk Management. The Consortium is now seeking applications from candidates, interested to work as adviser in the PAT. Duty station will be Yabello with frequent travelling within Borana Zone. Tasks and expected qualifications for the different posts are summarized below.
Other conditions: contract duration initially for 4 years (Phase I; April 2016 – March 2020) with the possibility to extend it into Phase II. Salary and benefits are negotiable, though will be based on the internal staff regulations of the consortium partners.
Qualifications:
– BSc or MSc in Rural Development & Extension, Agricultural Economics, Cooperative Development, Gender or related fields
– A minimum of 5 years of experience in community based (agro-) pastoral livelihood development initiatives, preferably in semi-arid areas
– Practical experience in cooperative development, including promotion of women development cooperatives/groups
– Special knowledge on GSE is advantageous.
