Job Announcement of Resident Engineers (RE) for the construction of Surface Parking Projects

Addis Ababa City Government Transport Programs Management Office (TPMO) is looking for dynamic, self-driven individuals to take up a Resident Engineer (RE) position at the project sites located within the City

Job Title: Resident Engineer (RE)

Duration: five (5) months with the possibility of extension

Place of work: Addis Ababa

Responsibilities:

• Create and hand out work schedules


• Shall monitor the operation and progress of contractors


• Shall communicate and report work progresses and any construction issues to the Infrastructure Development work division of the office


• Perform field quality control observations and assessments


• Inspect and assess the quality of materials being used for construction projects


• Calculate the quantity of material, supplies and equipment needed for each phases of the project


• Verify and approve payment requests of the contractor


• Oversee the work of field staff to ensure efficacy of work procedures


• Ensure compliance to the project drawings and specifications


• Make sure that all construction activities are being carried out in accordance to preset schedule and safety issues


• Ensure availability of needed resources and materials at all times


• Provide recommendations for repair work


• Survey maps and blueprints prior to creating construction plans


• Provide technical advice to field staff in order to ensure that construction procedures are being carried out properly


• Identify construction constraints and plan and carry out measures to counter them


• Prepare periodic reports and assessments for each project phase


• Perform all the needed tasks that are expected from the supervisor with responsibility of managing all aspects of a construction project on behalf of the client.


• Education level: A minimum of BSc Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields
  Work Experience: 4 years and above; at least 2 years working in Supervision of any construction projects
  Other Qualifications: Excellent skill in report writing, ability on working with MS Office applications and Ms. Project
