Job Description


Federal Ministry of Health would like to recruit with contract for the following position:Position: Data Clerk

Educational Background and Experience


• Diploma in information technology, statistics, electrical electronics or related field.


• Zero years’ experience


Salary: Negotiable.


Condition and Duration of Employment: Contract for six month with possibility of extension.


Required No of professional: 30


Duty Station: Addis Ababa in Federal Ministry of Health, Disease Prevention and Control Directorate.


Introduction:


The Federal Ministry of Health has conducted distribution of long lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) to prevent and control transmission of malaria. The Federal Ministry has planned to document the campaign and decided to create a database at national level the distribution of LLINs at household level. Currently the bed net distribution data is captured on a paper and it is required to be converted in to a digital format. The health information and technology directorate (HITD) directorate has tasked to work with the disease prevention and controlling directorate (DPC) to capture the data electronically. To effect these activities the ministry is looking for data clerks who satisfy the following terms of reference (TOR).


Duties and Responsibilities:


• Operates keyboard or other data entry device to enter data into computer for subsequent entry: Enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into computer, using data entry device, such as keyboard or optical scanner, and ‘following format displayed on screen.


• Compares data entered with source documents, or re-enters data in verification format on screen to detect errors.


• Deletes incorrectly entered data, and re-enters correct data.


• Record, sort, and verify accuracy of data to be entered.


• Keep record of work completed.


• Prepare action plan.for data entry


• Successful implementation of the baseline data collection for all of the planned/substitute enterprises


• Conduct check-backs, cleaning and archiving of data



  • Identifying incomplete forms

  • Identifying redundant data

• Prepare report with full documentation of the data entered in to computer• Completing inventory of the database

Out put: Deliver a minimum of 15 number of pages per day


Languages: English and Amharic is the working languages of the Ministry of Health.


Additional skills and/or areas of expertise:



  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment; Possess a positive attitude and ability to think outside the box”.

  • Experience and ability to office work activities (managing folders, ability to troubleshoot problems in desktop computers);

  • Ensuring that data are maintained and stored in a manner that is fully confidential so that no external individual or institution can identify any specific individual in the data.

  • Weekly reports of the number of enterprises successfully interviewed and their entered data

  • Delivery of a report relating to the overall organization and execution of the survey and data entry, as well as on the organization of the output files.
